Hope Lai sells up in the summer
Posted by: KfordBaggie - Yesterday, 08:38 PM - Forum: WBAUnofficial - Replies (10)

My hope is, we get promoted through the play offs, Guochaun Lai, sells up once were in the Premier League. He can probably re coup his £150-200 million. If we stay down, there is no way, he will re coup any where near that figure. Be about £40-50 million. He wouldn't sell for that.

If we stay down, he won't invest much. We're screwed with these owners, been a disaster from the start. Get them out. Protest anything. They need removing. Ruining our club.

Great comedy and deserves better than to be stuck on BBC Three when shite like Mrs Browns Boys is on BBC One every week. Whoever is the commissioner for comedy on the BBC has less taste than Fulham Fallout wardrobe!

Does anyone know who is responsible for what once contracts have been exchanged for a house sale? We are due to move next Wed (May 1st) having exchanged on Thurs 18th April. Having requested final settlement bills for all Utilities, we have received a large Water bill today, which we queried. It turns out we have a leak, on our property, between meter and the mains stopcock. The wife cancelled the Homeserve Insurance, covering all leaks, last week. Sod’s law I know. Will we be liable for any repairs or will the new buyers, as the problem was only identified today?
Can’t find any answers online.

Cheers in advance

Am I the only one on here that can see his potential. IMO he’s one of the loan players I’d try to sign in the Summer. He has a tendency at the moment to have what I call a “Mardon moment”, he can be looking at ease and then he’ll make an elementary mistake. I think many forget he is only 21.

A little stat about our opponents on Saturday, we have only played them three seasons in the league and all three seasons we have won promotion 1992/93, 2001/02 and 2003/04. another little quirk, in April 2002, we drew 1 1 in the game with the famous disallowed goal, that was a good yard over the line, ultimately it didn't affect us but it relegated Crewe on goal difference.

I wish I shared some of the optimism of many of our fans on here as it pertains to the playoffs. I am much more of a realist than a dreamer and there are several things that worry me leading up to the lottery of the playoffs.

1. We still don’t know our best team. We only know that we were better with Harvey Barnes in it.
2. I am far from convinced with our defense. The inconsistencies have been there to see all season.
3. Our midfield is a problem area. We are a far better attacking unit with Brunt in the team, but who are the best of the rest? I don’t know and neither does our management.
4. We have a custodian manager who is up against more tenured and experienced leaders.
5. Our most likely opposition have hit form when it’s needed the most and now won 10 on the bounce. Their momentum worries me. We have only managed to string together 3 wins in a row this season. It’s ok if win number one comes in the first leg of the semi final. Yes we could lose one and still go through, but we are not exactly great at building momentum this season.
6. First half is sleepy time - usually takes us a half to wake up. Be nice to give it a go from the off for once.
On the positive side, we have two good strikers who can produce. Our hopes rest on these two lads.

Local rivalry- no black and white answers
Posted by: Spandaubaggie - 04-24-2019, 08:51 PM - Forum: WBAUnofficial - Replies (20)

Just had a big chat with my daughter's friend's dad about the play-offs -he's a Villa fan who would rather avoid us as he hates local derbies, very similar to me.
Now this is over Solihull way, and he's mid 40s, so grew up with Blues totally the enemy. Me, brought up in Bearwood, it was purely Villa.
It got us talking the Midland rivalries and how when he worked in Cov in the 90s he found it amusing that Cov saw Villa as a big derby, when Villa could not give a toss.
I've always thought with rivalries, it depends on where you live and who you work with. For instance I'd guess there's many Villa fans over Handsworth way and over the border who care much more about Albion. Certainly at my school in the late 70s no Villa fans were overly bothered about Blues.
In all, we have two somewhat uneven derbies in the Mids with their loathing of a club. All Wolves bile is aimed as us, where half of us aren't that bothered. With Blues all their hatred is purely with Villa.
What we and Villa share is two really hostile derbies, so the answer to rivalry is far from black and white.
Equally, when Villa fans say they don't care about us, it's fair to say some might not, but those sitting around on their flippers besides them might be.
What is also true is meeting a lot ups the ante. Think many Villa fans feel very different about us the past 10 years than the decade before. It could move up another notch next few weeks.
