Well except from his job at the City Ground. Dropping points to the Shit will do that.

This Forest Chairman is a head case. Percy dropped the news at 35 minutes past midnight.

Let the football terrorism commence:

***Pre Match***

Albion will be set up not to lose, won't be easy
If we score early doors, 3-0 Blues, if not a nervy 1-0.
What say you?

5-0 Blues

4-1

I sense a pasting.
5-0

2-1
Stanno and Priske
A sending off for both sides

2-0

0-0.

2-1 Blues but it wont be ‘easy’ at all

I think 3-0 they’re a very poor team

They will definitely park the bus and try through Johnstone to catch us on the break which just might work for them...I'm going for 1-1 .

I think they’ll implode.
4-0 Blues

4-1 to us, plenty of taunting of the away fans and they’ll sack the manager the next day.

We're buzzing theyre struggling
It will be a very unlikely set of circumstances that means we dont beat them by a couple of goals
Blues 2-0 Albion

Easy win ! Baggies are done in the championship 3-nil city

Baggies manager is absolutely cack and sets up to all of our strengths.
Blues 4-0
Baggies fans crying on the walk down the hill after the game.

They changed their tactics the weekend apparently
I’m not expecting an easy game, however if we score early I think they’ll fold
- Yeah, moved to a 4 at the back and parked the bus a bit I think. Sounded reminiscent of those Zola/Rooney games where the manager shits the bed and plays for a 0-0 (Bristol City at home from memory)
Mepham the CB went off injured so they may be a bit depleted there. It wont be simple, Johnston, Heggebo, Price are all decent players, but I really struggle to see them holding out against us at the back, we are feckin lively and have options galore.
- The Albion beautiful football purists in the Smethwick End won't stand for that for long.

I always think of Baggies as a second tier derby match, they're no where near Villa in the 'whose stadium would I cheer if it burnt down' list.

I don't really want to see them go down though if we don't go up Wolves are coming down but obviously I'd rather swap and have a go at Villa.

If West Brom do go low block I think it will be their downfall. We faced it basically every game in L1 and that went quite well...and we're a bit better now.

The problem with all these predictions thinking we will win easy predictions is that they' are not overly realistic. They have good players and they will be setting up to stifle us. Fans will need to show patience and not start calling it an abysmal performance if we aren't winning after 25 minutes.
I think we will win 2-0.

I think it is clear they will set up a block.

It goes one of two ways, if we can break them down early the game will open up as they chase it and we will give them a pasting, 4-0

If they frustrate us I fancy us to nick it 1 or 2 nil.

Either way I think we win today.

I'm worried about tonight.
Got 1-0 baggies written all over it.
- Need to shake this typical Blues mindset, Brother

***First Half***
Yellow for their right back. Osman got him on toast

Osman giving Imray nightmares - yellow card for Imray.

They’re pressing well and not giving us much time on the ball… need to take control of the ball for a while and try and find some gaps

The baggies centre halves having an easy night so far, happy with the game being played infront of them.

Both fullback on yellows - need to keep getting at them.

We're consciously trying to draw them onto us, but it doesn't seem to be working. We can't play through the press, definitely need to start playing faster
Only hope is they tire second half

Dunno how baggies didn't score there. Fantastic block from Doyle

***Half Time***
Feck me that was a hard watch. Baggies pressed and defended well, we haven’t been able to break them down.
We haven’t got Osman against their RB since he got booked.

We haven’t played well and looked progressively second best. Certainly not dominating midfield either.
Should have had a pen all the same.

If that wasn’t a handball then i look forward to getting the 2 points back from opening day draw against Ipswich.

The handball was literally a goal saving interaction on the goal line. Obviously not intentional, but I genuinely don't understand how that can't be a penalty.

Sky showed Mike Dean saying it isn't a handball according to the rules, but I don't understand how stopping a goal on the goal line with your hand can sensibly be anything else. You can give away a penalty foul without intent - it just means you don't get sent off for it. Why is a handball on the line any different

***Second Half***
They seem much quicker at everything

Feeding off scraps.
Albion are containing our midfield well.

This second half has been even worse than the first. Albion growing into it more and more.

How has he blocked that? Brilliant block TBF.

wow that was a clearance and a half

Unbelievable block to deny Osman. Genuinely unbelievable

We're being spoiled by football terrorists. It's a good learning.

These cretins really are trying to spoil our fun.

Albions press is causing us problems.

We've just been done. This is a massive compliment.

[Noses crying about disallowed goal]

Gray barging the keeper then effed under the ball as it went in.
Never going to be given I'm afraid.

How is that not a red?

That's disgraceful from the baggies. Clean through. Those should be reds.

***Post Match***

Played well conned at the end enough chances to win 2 games. Hope the baggies go down.

He was offside.

Nah, we were unlucky but I ‘get’ both decisions. Could have gone for us, but we’d be annoyed if it was against us. Really solid performance though.

Not quite sure how we didn’t score in the end. 2 goal line clearances, a disallowed goal, a fantastic save.

We had a ball cleared off the line with a defenders hand, ball off the line from an insane clearance, hit the post, had a goal ruled out for offside at the end. And they didn't make Beadle make a save.

Yeah you cant fault the lads on second half performance. Baggies have got out of jail there.

They stifled us and we didn't know how to break them down and allowed them to create their own chances.

Some decent efforts. Everyone was a 6/10 which isnt enough to break the seal on a baggies team fighting for their lives.

We weren't as direct as we have been recently.
Albion got in amongst us and we reverted to our backwards and sidewards tactics.

I'm still seething about that Taylor pullback. As you said, the law should be changed. That was basically a chance akin to the last man rule and should be a red.

We did take the fight to them and were unlucky. Fact.

No one mentioning how, with VAR, Beadle possibly gets sent off and gives away a penalty for knocking the baggies player out with a two fisted punch to his chin!
The 'handball' wasn't a handball according to the laws.
Dimmi was interfering with play according to the laws.
Other than that, my short summary would be, 'magnificent effort, not enough quality in the final third - again.'

The Beadle one happens all the time and we had already flicked it away.
It was nothing on Oli Burke getting decapitated against Southampton.
- Yes, but to be fair if that HAD actually happened it would have done us, and indeed the football world at large quite a favour……

I can't really speak on the decisions because I didn't see them but the first 70 minutes were nowhere near the standard expected. I'm so frustrated and angry.
WBA were better for much of the game but they didn't look like scoring.

Albion came to do a job on us and it worked. They were physically stronger than us in all areas, and pressed well. Apart from that they offered very little, but nor did we. ... We were Far too slow, indecisive, and unadventurous against a Struggling Albion side with few ideas apart from a long throw/ ball into the box. We were lucky they couldn’t hit a bovines bum with a banjo. A big chance to go into the playoffs lost

Think if we went a goal or two up Albion would have folded. They had little but graft.

I'm as frustrated as anyone , but If you watch the highlights Dimmi has hold/is pushed up against the Albion GK preventing him moving as the ball comes over.He only starts to move away from their GK and towards the ball a fraction before it comes off Priske's head .

I'm a bit surprised there isn't more discussion of the save made by the WBA defender.
To me it is a clear penalty and possible red card.
The guidance is:
a player prevents the ball from going into the goal with their hand/arm, but does not deliberately handle the ball and does not make his body unnaturally bigger.
The handball law is illustrated with a few diagrams which show it's handball if his arm is away from his body.
If you take the picture of the contact with the ball and just include the bits of his body that can legally play the ball the ball is 18 inches or so away from his body. It is only his arm sticking out that makes his body unnaturally bigger that stops the ball going in.
So for me
1) stops the ball going in with his arm - yes
2) deliberate - I do not know
3) Making his body unnaturally bigger - yes
So it is a clear penalty.
I have seen the Sky analysis and they stop at point two. Their analysis is rubbish because they didn't consider the final bit of the rule.

I thought the ref in general was very poor.
He didn't do anything about WBA timewasting and didn't add any time for it in the first half. I don't think the 4 minutes in the second half included any either.
In particular one of the WBA forwards kicked the ball away as we were taking a goal kick. He did not just block it being taken.
This is one of the clearest yellow cards I have ever seen. I can only presume that none of the ref, the assistant nor the 4th official saw it - as with the save.

That's not the law though. The law is . Given the defender blocked with his leg and it's bounced through his leg and onto his hand, the law suggests the ref was right not to give it.
Everything that happened last night - the none penalty, the Gray interference, the none red card - is justifiable within the law. The issue people have should not be with the ref, it should be with the laws of the game.

Also he didn't book the most obvious offence from an Albion player in the first half - kicking the ball away after it had been placed for out goal kick.
That is really poor officiating in my opinion.

Feck the rules. Too many well actually tosspots on this thread.

Styles said "it was a reflex" here - he's not admitting it was "deliberate"

I don’t think we played great but watch the highlights of the game, their keeper has had a MOTM level performance, they’ve had one of the best goal line clearances you’re going to see and then the chaos at the end. Not to mention the dubious non given penalty in the 1st half.

We let them settle and didn't turn them around enough and played in front of them a bit too much. Not sure if its a case of the baggies playing well, us being complacent and thinking we had won before the game kicked off or we just aren't capable of playing through a press

Only thing that disappointed me was we allowed them to drag us down to their level at times and it became scrappy, which was what they wanted.

It's going to be really annoying if we finish a couple of points outside the playoffs and I think back to that game.

Left Foot Forward to usher in Reform
Posted by: Protheroe - 02-11-2026, 01:52 PM - Forum: Politics - Replies (11)

Now that Starmer is completely a hostage of the PLP expect the clattering of cans being kicked even further down the road on every fundamental issues. Expect Brownite managerialism and cap doffing to the Civil Service resulting in no meaningful change. Expect Treasury hegemony and further fiscal strangulation of enterprise.

And expect Reform to romp home as people get utterly sick of it.

This is going the way I always feared it would.
