Every week about 10k people die in the England and Wales which is about 1500 every day. Every day about 400 die from heart disease, similiar for cancer.
Latest ONS data shows about twice as many died from flu and pneumonia last week than from covid.

The Egyptian government has asked the city's taxi drivers to drive around the streets of Cairo tooting their car horns.

Talking of tutenkamen (which is a fabulous exhibition if you ever get chance to see it)  the tomb of an unknown king was uncovered in the VOTK recently.  The mummified body was coated with what is believed to be cocao beans and egyptian hazlenuts.   Egyptologists believe it could be the tomb of Pharoah Rocher.

Latest ONS data shows about twice as many died from flu and pneumonia last week than from covid.

That doesn't make 12 and currently there are 60k excess deaths on top of an average year of about 530k (those 60k have come in 6 months not a full year). There aren't 12 worse killers this year.

No for 2020 so far it probably 4th behind heart disease, cancer and dementia.
For current weekly levels it might still be 13th as another poster suggested.

Probably right with that one chep with cancer, heart disease and dementia (although isn't dementia basically old age). It is the worst virus based killer this year though by far.

Dont know if old age is regarded as a cause of death these days, maybe it is called dementia.
Flu typically kills about 20k a year in the UK although it was nearer 30k a 2 or 3 years ago so yes covid is the worst virus killer this year.
Not in favour of lockdowns though, far too many adverse effects. I think the effects of another lockdown would be worse than from the first. Guess opinion is split on this.
Bottom line is if everyone did the basics of distancing, masks and handwashing the virus would struggle to transmit.

The difference is you don’t catch a heart attack, cancer ir dementia from someone breathing on you.
