The keeper is a binfire under a high ball, the one 2nd half was so bad as to be comical. But, he was excellent at everything else last night and made 2 crucial good saves.

Griffiths doesn't look absolutely petrified when high balls come into the box. The general view from Bristol City fans about O'Leary seems to be a fairly spot on - good shot stopper but highly vulnerable in terms of crosses into box.

It helps that Griffiths is about 5 inches taller than MOL. And as we all know, 5 inches is fucking massive.

Of the 2 keepers on the pitch last night, I am glad we had O'Leary and not Beadle.

I'd probably say that all the scores are a mark or so higher than they should be but maybe that's because of the situation we're in and what we were willing to accept, apart from maybe Molumby who was an easy MoM for me.

He made a couple of good saves but his inadequacy on crosses can't inspire any confidence in the defence. If I were an opposing manager I'd be focusing on getting lots of high balls into our box as he looks terrified by that. That was probably the one dodgy moment for Diakite that stands out. It's to easy to dismiss a player by picking out individual moments of calamity. Semi and Barts have histories littered with spectacular brain farts, but the each played around 200 games for us and frankly are missed now they've gone. We don't have anyone apart from Diakite in the Yacob/Scharner mould, and sometimes that's what you need.

Considering he's England U-21 keeper I've never been hugely impressed with Beadle so far. He's obviously relatively good for a youngster but I think he needs to bulk up. He's incredibly lightweight and skinny for a keeper. I don't see him as being any better than Griffiths from the times I've watched him.

We certainly missed Heggebo, and I understand why Imre had to be hooked. Our subs coincided, understandably with the home side searching for a winner and having better options off the bench so the game swung their way. We held our nerve well. |
