I have just been informed that Mrs OF has booked us a table at the pub in July

Some people are complaining that prices have jumped, £24 for a steak pie and veg. Clarkson replied it's the price of beef, I looked it up and he's right it's probably 35% up on last year. Others said it was a really good meal and well worth it, I await your review Big Grin

Tbh I expected his prices to be higher given the pubs location and 'fame'.

I used to get a top of the range fillet steak in Lidl for about £5.75.  They are nearly £8 now.  Pubs are generally charging about £30 for a steak these days so I cook my own at home.

The Baytree in Kinver charge £28.50 for a fillet steak.  I had a meal there last week and I have to say that the food was excellent.  I had the lamb.

Poor thing

Turning Point : Vietnam

Superb.

We really do learn nothing from war.

Finally saw Moneyball (Netflix). Watched it mainly to see if I could make sense of data driven sports methodology. I'm none the wiser but enjoyed the fillum anyway.

Finished A Thousand Blows, very good series as long as you ignore the historical inaccuracies, watched
I Walk the line, 2005 Johnny Cash story, excellent but long film

Agreed. Excellent series but troubling to see how many people are thrown in fires for some to save face.

Just Act Normal on BBC3. A brummie based sort of comedy/drama/soul searching mix of 3 (black) kids left in a flat to fend for themselves when their mum disappears.

Depends where you are.

If you don't like it by the end of episode 3 not sure you are ever going to like it. But like a lot of new drama first couple of episodes are not the greatest watches.

The documentary series Shifty on iplayer is weird, fragmentary, incoherent?, but strangely very watchable.

It did get better. I thought it was a little overacted in the first couple of episodes but a decent watch overall.

Shifty is Adam Curtis' latest documentary.  If you're not familiar with him, all of his stuff is mind blowing. I've saved it for this coming week, really looking forward to it.
