Mowatt much better fit alongside Yokuslu.

And I like Molumby.

Yep such an important position, we need a creator in there and Molumby isn't that

Furlong 4 Another bad one today, not playing with much confidence as comfortable to come inside and sideways/backwards all too often, below standard passing and crossing

Townsend 5 Lack of competition breeds complacency! Some decent overlapping runs, some decent crosses but some shocking defending and distribution, also guilty of ball watching terribly to let Rhodes almost head the winner, neither him or Furlong seem good enough at the top end of this division anymore

O’Shea 3 Stinker, terrible for their 2nd schoolboy stuff, completely powder puff, also lost way too many headers from long balls through the centre

Ajayi 7* Pick of the bunch for me, needed to play well due to Dara having one

Okay 6 Standards are so high seen some saying he had a mare, far from it, still broke up so much and used the ball better than anybody else, really should have scored at least one but good to see him getting in the box

Molumby 5 Every performance just opens up the Mowatt can of worms, he’s a trier, works hard but I don’t see any team finishing top 6 with him playing 40 games for them, bench and squad player if serious about achieving something. We need creativity alongside Okay so hope and pray we get a centre midfielder in before Thursday night

Grady 7 A little cautious at times today but still so much of a threat when on the ball, Udds doubled up on him as many sides will from now on, really should have scored the winner with a volley, needs to improve that side of his game

Swift 7 Quiet first 30 but much better when we took control, must be a case for dropping him deeper and starting Robbo as well when we’re so in the ascendancy

Wallace 7 2 goals, although did his best to somehow miss the first, also should have scored before his first from a Furlong cross. Carried a threat at all times but desperate for  a striker in the box to get on some of these crosses

Grant 3 Dear me, another performance just ramming home the fact we’re desperate for  a striker who can hold the ball up, still had 2 good chances and won a penalty not given but that apart we were basically playing with 10 this afternoon, needs sorting

Subs

Robbo 6 Continues to look lively and finds pockets of space can’t be far away from a chance IMO

TGH 6 Good to see Bruce acknowledge Furlong wasn’t playing well, little chance of impact but may have been quicker onto late chance

I guess today told us nothing new, some nice football at times all be it a little pedestrian, still vulnerable at the back, especially from corners, our corners carry zero threat, do we even work on them? I’m sure we’ve had over 60 this season and barely look like troubling the keeper?
Both full backs are on borrowed time and we need some more quality in the middle of the park, we need a centre forward as Grant is not the answer up top in a 4231 system

Big 5 days ahead for the club, we need a win at Wigan and 2-3 new faces before we face Burnley

Cuzer

A few saying Okay was poor. Load of bollocks. Even when he’s average for him, he’s a cut above

Do  we think Delph would want less than Mowatt?

Okay being cut far too much slack on here. Contrast with O'Shea who made one fatal error and diced with death a couple of other times, and gets marked right down. Okay lost possession for the corners which led to the first goal. He passed the ball into touch several times, was caught flat-footed on many occasions and missed a goal which I would have headed in. If O'Shea was good for 80 minutes, Okay managed more like 75. We need all these players to be sharper, but maybe Bruce doesn't work them hard enough.

How does Button get beaten so easily on the near post, yet no-one on here is calling him out for it? Feeble.

Grant gets abuse for being asked to play in the wrong position. Can't fault his effort today, but muscling for possession in their third isn't his strength. If bread-stick legs Dike could get onto the pitch we'd find out if he's the answer.

FWIW, I think Bruce is having a nightmare time, with financial constraints even worse than he anticipated. His comments in the press are getting weirder by the day. Having justified the departure of Mowatt by saying we were overstocked in centre midfield, now he's commenting on Livermore's weight (!!!) and suggesting he can't play 90 minutes any more. Interesting times, especially if we don't do the transfer business we desperately need.

Okay is understably a favourite but was simply terrible today

Okay and OShea were both poor first half but both better second half despite some of the comments. Molumby was as good as anyone was first half as well.

Furlong on the other hand was garbage all game, absolutely dire. An elephant would have a softer touch than he has. Grant weren't much better.

Grant has good players round him now & a decent footballer makes a decent contribution across the front line

But he’s such a limited footballer & his general play is mainly dire - then we get the excuses of him not playing in his best position. Pure BS, it’s like we have to build the team round him

In any event at the moment there’s only one position available for him as he’s certainly not replacing Diangana

Not far off with those Cuz. You have to put the performance and result into context - they are bottom 6 under Schofield and were missing a few defenders and Hogg. We were atrocious for 30 mins - huffed for a bit and then controlled 25 min of the 2nd half. SBs sub then meant we lost control in the middle and they had as many chances as us late on. Marks

Button 5. Unconvincing again - slow to close for 2nd goal and nowhere near the post shot late on. He won’t win us many points

Furlong. 4 Poor defender and even worse in possession. Countless misplaced passes and overhit crosses.  RB needed as well as a CF

Townsend. Game enough and tried to support attacks. Just v little attacking quality - right to the 95th min when a decent knock down might have won it

Semi 7. Effort and one of the few to win a header.  Swept up a lot but a silly yellow at end when we had the ball

OS. 4.5. Easily his worst game. Time to clear it downfield - let alone give a throw away. Caught in possession and ponderous all game.

Okay. 6.5 He was dreadful for 35 min.  Unfit and leggy - they ran past him. V poor on the ball too.  Improved 2nd half and helped us boss it. Poor header

Mulumby 6. Anonymous again for 30 odd mins - the one thing he has is energy so use it man.  Started the move for the 1st and played well 2nd half. Poor call to sub him as it left us too open after we had controlled it for 25 min

Swift 6.5. Great assist for equaliser but needs to sort his fitness and offer much more. Frustrated everyone with his passes when we’ll placed to shoot twice in 2 half

Wallace 7.5. His crossing wasn’t there again today but wonder if lacks conviction because he knows Grant won’t get near them.  Scored 2 valuable goals. Should of had a third.

Grady. 7. Decent outlet again despite being double marked. Only one who showed for it 1st half. He has to take more goal chances

Grant. 3. Seriously, he offers fuck all. Performs the same whether he has scored or not.  When you are that limited at everything else you have to convert chances. What he does is make the team look worse than it is and scores the odd goal. He doesn’t work hard - he doesn’t make runs. Trod on the fugging ball twice.

CR 6.5. Still nowhere near pre covid form but good reverse pass for what was a penalty.  He needs more minutes - but has to knuckle down.

TGH. 6.  Not on for that long but could have done more with the ball in good positions near the box. Another who deserves more minutes - albeit as a sub

Okay was "dreadful for 35 minutes" but still scores 6.5? FFS sake! Grant scores 3. But who else are you going to put there while Dike nurses his poor tired thigh back into shape? I suppose if Reach had been subbed on it would have taken some of the heat off Grant. But these guys aren't the cause of the problem, they're just trying to do the job they're asked to do.
