Button 6 Hard to gauge, his saves v shots on target is poor this season, first no chance and second could have closed down quicker, distribution was OK, jury still out I guess

Furlong 4 Another bad one today, not playing with much confidence as comfortable to come inside and sideways/backwards all too often, below standard passing and crossing

Townsend 5 Lack of competition breeds complacency! Some decent overlapping runs, some decent crosses but some shocking defending and distribution, also guilty of ball watching terribly to let Rhodes almost head the winner, neither him or Furlong seem good enough at the top end of this division anymore

O’Shea 3 Stinker, terrible for their 2nd schoolboy stuff, completely powder puff, also lost way too many headers from long balls through the centre

Ajayi 7* Pick of the bunch for me, needed to play well due to Dara having one

Okay 6 Standards are so high seen some saying he had a mare, far from it, still broke up so much and used the ball better than anybody else, really should have scored at least one but good to see him getting in the box

Molumby 5 Every performance just opens up the Mowatt can of worms, he’s a trier, works hard but I don’t see any team finishing top 6 with him playing 40 games for them, bench and squad player if serious about achieving something. We need creativity alongside Okay so hope and pray we get a centre midfielder in before Thursday night

Grady 7 A little cautious at times today but still so much of a threat when on the ball, Udds doubled up on him as many sides will from now on, really should have scored the winner with a volley, needs to improve that side of his game

Swift 7 Quiet first 30 but much better when we took control, must be a case for dropping him deeper and starting Robbo as well when we’re so in the ascendancy

Wallace 7 2 goals, although did his best to somehow miss the first, also should have scored before his first from a Furlong cross. Carried a threat at all times but desperate for a striker in the box to get on some of these crosses

Grant 3 Dear me, another performance just ramming home the fact we’re desperate for a striker who can hold the ball up, still had 2 good chances and won a penalty not given but that apart we were basically playing with 10 this afternoon, needs sorting

Subs

Robbo 6 Continues to look lively and finds pockets of space can’t be far away from a chance IMO

TGH 6 Good to see Bruce acknowledge Furlong wasn’t playing well, little chance of impact but may have been quicker onto late chance

I guess today told us nothing new, some nice football at times all be it a little pedestrian, still vulnerable at the back, especially from corners, our corners carry zero threat, do we even work on them? I’m sure we’ve had over 60 this season and barely look like troubling the keeper?
Both full backs are on borrowed time and we need some more quality in the middle of the park, we need a centre forward as Grant is not the answer up top in a 4231 system

Big 5 days ahead for the club, we need a win at Wigan and 2-3 new faces before we face Burnley

Okay had some poor misplaced passes and didn't hit the barn door but I agree the rest of his play was good and is still rightly one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Agreed
Molumby is a definite weak link - midfield players have to contribute more than he does. Passing it short backwards & sideways is okay if there’s also more to a players game, but with him there really isn’t

Need someone there that can carry to ball forward with vision & purpose & to pick some forward passes. But his game is just continually slowing the game down & he is not a passer. As you say in this division we need much better than him.

Everything has been said about Grant - as with Molumby if he’s a starter we can forget challenging towards the top of the league. Nothing sticks, no pace, heavy touch & wins nothing in the air

Given the better creativity this season & with Diangana playing well I believe we’d be 4 or 5 points better off with Dike (or even Carroll) in the starting line up

If we don’t get a couple in we’ve got little chance of heading up the table
Spot on BB, couldn’t agree more

Why it was utterly ludicrous we let Mowatt leave. The most important midfielder we have as he’s the only one who can bloody pass.

Is that based on his time at Barnsley? Certainly didn't see it with us last season

Mowatt was an astute passer in the opponents half. One player who could pick a pass for a runner into the box.
A fit Mowatt is twice the player Molumby is. Hence the reason Boro came in for him and not Molumby.
We’ve spoke to Delph which tells you Bruce must know we need a midfielder
