We bought him to score goals and he scores goals. The hand wringing over him is bizarre. No, he doesn't do much when not scoring goals, but his job is primarily to score goals and that he does. If he could have a chat with J-Rod or Charlie Austin about how to take a penalty, then we'd be laughing.

One trick pony.

With our xG should have scored double.

Not fit to lace the boots of Wingie, Phillips, Taylor, Hunt, Hughes Goodman - and all those before him.

‘One trick pony’

Is that trick, scoring goals? What exactly do you want your strikers to do?

And…obviously he’s not as good as those listed. That list is our best strikers from the last 3 decades.

And he cost more than all of them put together.

Can't even score a penalty 1 in 4 times, FFS.

As Hoppy said…a must in the starting 11.

Not at the expense of Grady though. Up top.

Wallace - Swift - Grady
———— Grant ————-

Grant can play as a lone-striker but he's more effective on the left.  Dike will surely be the out and out striker or one of two - or three if Gayle signs - would be a nice problem to have.

Grady could be a great player but he's lost his mojo.

Last season;

Grant 19 goals
Grady 1

And for the life of me I don't understand why you would want to play 6 defensive players and 4 offensive players?  If we're playing a back 4 then I would just have Okay shielding the back four with 5 offensive players.

If Gayle does sign Bruce will have the option of going back to a back-three and going all out attack.  With Wallace, Swift, Diang, Grant, Dike and Grant we'd blow most teams out the water.

Back three of Ajayi - O'Shea - Clarke.

He scored 18 goals in a season where the creative source behind him at times was Adam Reach and Jayson Molumby. He’s doing okay.

For the umpteenth time, it isn't Grant's fault how much we paid for him, so there is no point in bringing it up every time he's discussed.

Wallace - Swift - Grant
Dike

That would be the setup for me against Middlesbrough if everyone stays fit.

It's also not his fault that he actually isn't very good.

Only 6 teams scored less than us last year so to single out the bloke who was our highest scorer by far does seem a bit bonkers. His all round game is poor though and he contributes little other than his goals so we should be looking to improve that.
We should be looking to add to his goals, however, not removing them.
If we can get 3 in double figures next season we should be very close to top 6 and that is already feasible with Grant, Dike, Wallace and Swift. If we bring in another proven goalscorer then we should be well set.
