Goal scorer.

As Hoppy said…a must in the starting 11.

Not at the expense of Grady though. Up top.

Wallace - Swift - Grady
———— Grant ————-

He's not a lone striker though - we don't have one. His best position is cutting in from wide.

People like me might cut him some slack if we didn't rely on him as our main goalscoring threat.
Nah, play a number 9 at number 9. Dike up top. Grant out wide if he’s going to start
The lone striker role becomes a different role with the likes of Wallace, Swift and Grady (on form version) creating and giving service behind you though.
Don’t disagree, but Wallace is one of the best crossers in the league. If Grant is challenged for a header he won’t win.

Grants strengths are clear. I don’t know why we’d try and force him into a role where he’s been pretty poor time and time again

Pretty poor time and time again? He played on the left pretty much all season last year.

All I know is he’s the only player in our squad who seems to know where the net is. Hopefully…Dike, Wallace, Swift and Grady can take some of the load off this year.

All well and good having an excellent crosser, but neither Dike nor Grant can head a ball Big Grin

What's Dicchio upto these days?
Never taken to him but his goal return makes that look ridiculous tbh.
Maybe it's harsh to say he's been poor, but he's better on the left side of the three than centrally.

As I've said, everyone knows his strengths. Grant will contribute with a clinical finish once in a while but his all around play isn't that of someone who's going to bring others in to play or have the ball stick to him up top. This season we have Jed Wallace who's scored double figures in two of the last three seasons, John Swift who got 11 last season and we have a striker in Dike who will harrass defences and bring these others into play.

Based on the stats the front four really should pick itself, but I'd also like to see Grady relied on because he tore up the league a few seasons ago. Not the worst dilemma in the world.

Dike can head a ball. Just needs to get his eye in.

Grant can head a ball well if no one else is near him
Against League One opponents I know. But I thought Grant was very good playing up front 2nd half tonight
