Get with the program, the new bullshit is they knew all the problems that would occur despite them saying at the time it was project fear and actually everything from food shortages to pigs was all part of the Brexit plan. However you must also understand that none of these issues are because of Brexit. This is not an episode of Yes Minister or the Thick of It, this is what this government and the vote leave cabal around them are now arguing.

Would it surprise you that British abattoirs are processing 11% more pork than this time last year?

Would it surprise you that there is a scramble for meat processors across Europe due to the huge surfeit of pork & Irish pork farmers are asking for immigration from outside the EEA?

Would it surprise you that the reason for the ramping up of pork production and the current problems are wholly unrelated to Brexit and far more to do with porcine diseases?

Cheap, lazy, high status Brexit blaming.

Would it surprise you that this time last year the hospitality sector was under a 10pm curfew and we had local restrictions around the country closing some completely. Either you have heard that and are repeating it blindly without thinking about the reason for more pork being processed, or you are aware of the gaslighting you are taking part in. 

Would it also surprise you that (again the HGV discussion) there are shortages in staff across the field - the pig farmers aren't in some great conspiracy group with the hauliers association to discredit the government and Brexit, there is a real shortage that needs addressing and if it isn't (partially at least) down to Brexit then what is the problem / cause? Brexiteers have got to get out of this lala land and realise we have problems that need addressing - we are where we are now, it doesn't matter why we are here but denying it has anything to do with Brexit is just stupid - we need to recognise why and address that problem, if you can't do the 1st part, we won't solve the 2nd.

I'm quite aware that Afghanistan is not in the EU. What the hell as that got to do with anything - he said Johnny Foreigners. So presumably he and you class only non-EU as Johnny Foreigners. Sounds a bit racist to me.

I want all countries to be given the same rights to come here. You want prejudicial, discriminatory rights for some countries.. That makes you prejudiced, discriminatory and vaguely racist - of course you will sustain this point of view as being economically the best - but hey. You stick by your racist friends in Hungary - I'll judge you by the company you keep.

You're the one that linked Afghanistan to someones comment about Brexiteers - people voted for brexit in part to reduce the number of foreign workers suppressing wages (I'm told this regularly on here), bb is just stating that Brexiteers got what they wanted, he said Johnny Foreigners as a quote of what some brexiteers might say not as a statement of his own views.

No you are picking and choosing facts and discarding the rest. The loss of workers from the EU has exasperated the problem in the UK and no amount of ignoring experts in their field that are interviewed in those reports I linked to will change that. This is the same nonsensical argument put forward about a lack of HGV drivers. Neither sectors will be helped by a loss of FOM from the EU and labelling those that do those jobs as unskilled means all migrant workers will be barred from the UK unless they receive limited visa's to work here be they from Europe or further afield. Brexit is part of the problem. Stop trying to gaslight your way through this mess we are in.
