He’s been linked scattergun style to lots of different clubs, owns a property company with no assets in NYC registered in a little office block in Sidcup and has a bankruptcy to his name from when his pub went under in 2010 and sexual harassment accusations...

My concern is that Lai will sell to anyone who fronts him cash, with zero fucks given about how that money is raised.

re the sexual harassment......you sure it's the same guy?

The Campbell mentioned in the mail doesn't appear to have a pot to piss in..

That way the current owner effectively sells on the basis of some money now and then takes the circa £45m parachute money when its paid. It obviously allows someone to buy the club who couldn’t otherwise afford the asking price

This is how Sunderland got brought from Ellis Short ...

To be fair to Short he did pump a fair bit of money into Sunderland.

Short had a load of money and bought the club outright, think Baggeridge means Mepham and Donald who whilst both comfortably well off, could never have raised the cash to buy a club of Sunderland’s size without leveraging the 2nd and 3rd parachute payments and the Uruguayan’s money.

Suspicious that a club the size of Sunderland, with cancelled debts and 2years of parachute payments are struggling to compete with clubs in League One!

Lai has never saddled us with debt to buy the club, and for that we must be grateful. We could end up with a situation one stage worse if we aren't careful.

Correct.
Whilst he isn’t the owner we want, he’s better than most we could get.

Not looking good and very worrying.

I guess it'll all come out in the wash sooner or later...nowt we can do so no point worrying but in the current climate it's difficult to see things getting better.

But you never know.   Angel
