You don't know much about football but I've always been with you on Deeney.

You're funny Nick.

Why don't you rate Grant again?

They're not as easy to score as you think.

Yours, Stuart Pearce, Gareth Southgate, David Batty.....

I just don't.

If he was that good he'd be signed for another club by now like Watkins.

We'll see though. Have any other club in the football league been in for him? And I trust their scouting methods and procurement over ours. Nope. So potentially on Friday we'll have the same side that struggled to promotion with a decent Championship forward who's untried at this level.

Not good enough. Get Deeney (we both agree on that) and we have some snot and grit. But it'll be tough regardless.

Ah, the old “he’s shit because nobody else wanted him” line.

Another staple.

It is.

If he was that good.........

You're adamant that we're going down anyway. With that in mind what's the point of spending a wad of money on someone with no resale value or, alternatively, a loan for which we get nothing at the end of the season.

At least with Grant there's resale value.

I'd like to have both, but if its a choice between Grant and Deeney then it's a no brainer.

Absolutely fine. Six year seems a bit long but presumably we're tying him down on wages that are not too extreme. IMO we would have walked the league last season with Grant up top rather than Austin/HRK

Hang on a sec, I thought we were all unhappy at not tying our best youngsters down on long deals??? Grant is only 23 after all...

I don't have a problem with it, but 6 years is a risk for anyone! I would've said 4 is about right just incase the shit hits the fan.

I rate Grant however. I wanted him to come to us a year ago

Maybe 6 years as it gives the club longer to amortise the fee

Yes agreed Six years is a long contract but it shows the confidence that Bilic and the management have in him. If this does come off with his age we will have a big resale value because of this long contract. I now wonder if we will use the last domestic loan to bring in another striker or hopefully a fullback, we will know in a couple of days.

Yes this is key!

Well maybe but if the fee is 15m then that's a few more years of wages also if everything goes to pot.

Karlan Grant scored 4 goals in 13 appearances in the Premier League, including one against Arsenal. He is tested at this level.

Can't say as I see much difference personally.....

He signed for a Premier League club nearly 2 years ago and is two years younger than pin-up boy. As I have already pointed out, he has scored more goals than PUB in the last two seasons in a bottom of the league side. You really need to pay more attention.

We'll see though. Have any other club in the football league been in for him? Who knows?  And I trust their scouting methods and procurement over ours. What are you talking about, you're not making any sense?  Nope.

So potentially on Friday we'll have the same side that struggled to promotion with a decent Championship forward who's untried at this level.  Friday? Are you pissed?  Big Grin We play Burnley on Monday.  We were top 2 all season and top for a fair chunk, so how did we struggle?  The season is 46 games, yes the last few games were nervy but we thoroughly deserved it.  Grant has played 13 games in the Premier League and scored 4 goals, when he was 21.  PUB is 25.

Not good enough. Bilic obviously thinks he is.

Get Deeney (we both agree on that) and we have some snot and grit. But it'll be tough regardless.   We could do with Deeney's leadership and experience but it's not a deal-breaker.  Mandzukic will do.  Grant is the future.
