Summer Transfer Window Thread
Super Slav is right Grant deal not a loan according to Masi but a permanent deal spread over a group of payments.

He did the same at Saints when he apparently declined to join us and then did a u-turn presumably when Hassle said he wouldn't be in their 25 man squad.

I would imagine if he refuses to budge and just sees his contract out we won't be able to bring anyone else in (in addition to Grant).

Be interesting to see where we are at 5pm on Friday.

As long as he's fit and professional I don't have a problem with having Charlie coming on instead of Deeney.

Can't say as I see much difference personally.....

Completely different players for me, Deeney's one of the best leaders in the Prem and loves a battle and holds the ball up brilliantly and don't forget scored 10 in 23 last season.

You don't know much about football but I've always been with you on Deeney.

Five of the ten were penalties

All ten are goals or don’t penalties count. Remember the great Tony Brown he scored penalties or didn’t his count. This idiotic saying of, but so many were penalties is ridiculous they all count.

You're funny Nick.

Why don't you rate Grant again?

They're not as easy to score as you think.

Yours, Stuart Pearce, Gareth Southgate, David Batty.....

You're adamant that we're going down anyway. With that in mind what's the point of spending a wad of money on someone with no resale value or, alternatively, a loan for which we get nothing at the end of the season.

At least with Grant there's resale value.

I'd like to have both, but if its a choice between Grant and Deeney then it's a no brainer.

Absolutely fine. Six year seems a bit long but presumably we're tying him down on wages that are not too extreme. IMO we would have walked the league last season with Grant up top rather than Austin/HRK

Hang on a sec, I thought we were all unhappy at not tying our best youngsters down on long deals??? Grant is only 23 after all...

I just don't.

If he was that good he'd be signed for another club by now like Watkins.

We'll see though. Have any other club in the football league been in for him? And I trust their scouting methods and procurement over ours. Nope. So potentially on Friday we'll have the same side that struggled to promotion with a decent Championship forward who's untried at this level.

Not good enough. Get Deeney (we both agree on that) and we have some snot and grit. But it'll be tough regardless.

I don't have a problem with it, but 6 years is a risk for anyone! I would've said 4 is about right just incase the shit hits the fan.

I rate Grant however. I wanted him to come to us a year ago

Ah, the old “he’s shit because nobody else wanted him” line.

Another staple.
