He don't want to be here, get rid.

I share your sentiment, but we are in no negotiating position to demand a sell-on clause

Don't ask and we deffo won't get. Besides, if they don't meet what we ask then we don't have to sell and he can rot and then fugg off to Europe and do a (L) Barry instead. I'd rather that then get screwed over.

Not sure that’s a very logical approach!   Ferguson holds all the aces. But that’s our fault.

I don't know, you're being very pragmatical Smile

*if* we gain promotion, then £4m lost won't even be noticed, and he may want to stay then. I think it's just a case of a kid who's had a good few games, and done better than everyone thought he would. Probably even himself. He could well be the next Berahino (our youths seem to be queuing up to emulate him)
Pay the monedas and keep the kid

He probably wants Prem football and he knows he has a chance of that with us but it sounds like he's getting offers from Prem clubs (where he won't necessarily get first team opportunities) - so maybe he's just keeping his options open. I wouldn't blame him if that was the case. On that basis, I live in hope that he'll still be with us next season.

He could sign an improved deal and insist on a reasonable release clause should we fail to get up, protecting him and the club, alongside a hefty bonus and pay rise. We'd surely agree to that, and he'd get a move if he performs and we don't go up.

It would settle his mind and cement his place in the team now, plus maximise his chances of actually playing games in the Prem next season, which is where the big bucks come further down the line.

While I agree 100% with your idea, I would have thought this would have already have been offered and by declining to accept he has already decided the grass is greener. This bluff and double bluff doesn't sit well with me. If an offer come for him, IMO let him go
and find his way elsewhere.

I’m sure it has been offered. I was responding to the point I’d highlighted bold about what he could do. He clearly doesn’t want to.

Was thinking the same. Townsend scores the winner & gets dropped for someone on the verge of leaving. Crazy.

Because Townsend has repeatedly been found out under the aerial ball and we were playing a team who launch it.

Brunt may have been a better option, but I can understand why Townsend wasn't picked.

well that didn't work because we didn't win a header all night with 4 centre halves playing. Just seems a mad decision to play him on a night where a number of puzzling decisions were made. I really hope Slav hasn't lost the plot
He'll do well in a Hodgson side. At least we get a few quid. Hopefully we might use the funds to buy a centre half.

I also wonder if we might get a loan back for the rest of the season?

IMO Scott Dann would be a good shout for 4 months.
