The person who advised me of this works with VC on deals in the ball park WBA would go for. Whilst I don't have details of value, one can only imagine that it  must have had a price based on promotion and one without or at least some sort of additional fees if promotion was achieved. Their feeling was Lai would have a real job shifting WBA for anywhere near the reported £175-£190 million he paid for it. The real issue is, whoever buys it will look to make long term returns. Fosun bought Wolves pretty cheap and I'd say it's probably worth in excess of £300m now. It was a pretty shrewd investment on their part. There are very few Abramhovics' or sovereign wealth funds, so unless Lai cuts his losses, we are stuck with him.

You don't pay a premium for a Prem club, unless they are iconic, and we aren't.

Notts Forest, Sheff Weds and even Blues are better value if you can sort out the Balance Sheet, and find a way to inject funds.

We are less attractive today than we we were in The Chump.

From a good contact in the business world in the Birmingham\Midlands area.

This has been confirmed in The Atheltic today.

Good scoop.

The Saudis were looking to buy a football club - would you be for or against it?

I’d feel pretty conflicted about being owned as part of a sports washing programme, and I’d be genuinely concerned about the club losing its soul as it grew with all that money... but at the same time I can’t pretend the thought of having billions to spend wouldn’t excite me a little.

Against.

Like him or not, Lai has backed the club to a certain extent over the last 3 seasons (to at least as much a level as JP used to).  I dread the thought of some of the types that have bought other clubs settling on us. I know it can be frustrating watching our neighbours spending money that isn't their own but ultimately it's right to be self sustaining. That isn't me talking from the high moral ground. I'm as vengeful as anyone and long for the day Abramovich get's tired of Chelsea, Man City get thrown out of Europe, Fosun demand their millions back and villa get done for FFP and get sold to the sons of  the Bhattis.
It is worth remembering that Jeremy had us for sale for a couple of years without attracting any interest from any Father Christmas types.

Thats because he couldn't find a mug to part with the money.

Interesting that Seals and Wolves bought cheap in the Chump before the spunking began.

Lai either has more money than sense or is stu pid

And Adrian Goldberg reckoned that pre Covid this was a real possibility. But not looking likely now.
In the Liquidator podcast.

Agree - except our owner isn't in a position to sell for the £40m or so price we'd cost in the Championship.

If I were an investor I'd steer well clear of buying us - you can see why Fosun walked away from Peace's asking price and went with Wolves.

But I don't see any deal of this magnitude going ahead soon; not with the double-whammy of COVID-19 and football's day of reckoning so overdue. The EPL badly needed the goalfest it got this week because without the  matchday buzz people are beginning to switch over, and access to alternatives has never been easier.

But having said that, this is shaping up to be a very tough season, but the best in years for the neutral. Fosun have a tough choice to make, but I feel that the ship has already sailed on them. It could be disastrous, and does explain in a couple of recent sales.

Fosun is a multinational group, and - believe me - multinational group strategy cares nothing for divisional well-being when the shit hits the fan-tango. The risk to the Dings now is that the impending asset-strip courts (and results in) relegation, but they are ostensibly some way off that. For now.

The £35m they've just paid Barca for Semedo and the impending £30m arrival of Costa from Juve suggests they're confident they can progress further!

What a time to be a Wolves fan... I can't help but be a little envious of the Dogheads. While they sign household names, we're scrambling down the sofa trying to get find small change for our next transfer.

Watching them against Man City, they're on a completely different level to us. We might be in the same division this season, but they're reaching for the elusive top 6 category, while 17th is our aspiration.

Oh well, could be worse, could support Walsall!
I always thought we'd be sold as soon as China started pulling back on the investment in football. We were bought for a reason; to make Lai look good to the ruling party. Now that they've shifted the goalposts, we're a political liability.

I don't think he'll get back what he's paid, but it's how much he wants back to save face.

Having just read Lepko's book we need someone to see it how Paul Thompson did - hopefully we can find someone who's interested in developing us a bit.
