JRod to Burnley

The way I see it is yes we've lost an awful lot goals but somewhere out there will be a player or players that will more be than adequate replacements, problem for me is with our world renown fanning around & fuck wittery dept we will be lucky to see any by the end of the Jan window never mind this one.

We have circa £70 million in transfer funds and parachute payments - if the club let Bilic use it we have a great chance of getting a new energetic team we all want. If he is going to be short changed his success along with our future is already written.
(£35m parachute / £16.5m Rondon / £10m JRod / £5.5m Dawson / £3m Barry/Rogers)

Cast your mind back to when we lost the services of Kamara, Koumas, Hartson and Ellington one summer. They were the scorers of around 50 goals the previous season and yet we managed to adequately replace them, the following season we scored as many goals and gain promotion to boot.

Big difference. We kept our best striker (SKP) though for the following season. HRK is no SKP

That's a fair point - although from memory Kamara outscored Phillips.

But nevertheless the players who I listed as leaving did score around 50 goals the season before and we replaced those goals. Miller and Bedmar went along way to replacing those goals.

It should not be beyond the capabilities of our recruitment team to bring in players of the calibre of those two.

Just cos we found a tenner in the rain doesn't mean we'll find tenners every time it rains (unfortunately).

At some stage we are going to have to find a tenner, Rodriguez can't play on forever.

No one is suggesting that recruiting good players is ever easy, but for a club to progress it does have to happen.
True. Roy was a master at that. He found tenners all over the place: in the rain, down the sofa, you name it.

Illustrates the importance of this season. Great judgment and luck in recruitment are key, and anything less than promotion is regression back into the primordial ooze of the Championship (or worse).

We all know we will faff about on the cheap side as usual despite other clubs knowing we have money.
Add in all the wages gone as well there should not be many clubs below the Prem who should be able to match if we want a Player not being hunted by a Prem team.

Parachute money doesn't just go to transfers, wages, running costs all have to come out of it too. That's the issue in this damn league, it's nigh on impossible to break even and actually spend without external investment, from an owner or transfer revenue.

But we still generate other income on ticket sales, sponsorship and commercial remember PLUS any monies that may be owed the Club from third parties (if you get my drift!).

We do but it's not as much as we need. Due to the way we run things we will never spend it all either. I certainly wouldn't be happy with a bunch of loans and free transfers, unless they are all sensational of course. But people thinking we are going to spend like Villa did are going to be dissapointed.

Jay Rod earned the clause by stopping last season when he could have easily kicked off when Burnley offered £12m plus for him, he didn't, knucked down and gave it his all, whcih nobody can question

We must have known/feared this was coming let's hope we've got some targets in mind as we seriously can't fuck about this window, you get the impression Slaven won't let that happen

We need 5-6 first team players minimum IMO, that's keeping everybody else too
