On the news, I’ll guarantee that the save they’ll keep showing will be the one v Pelé, but for me, it doesn’t come close to the penalty save in the dying moments of the League Cup semi final v West Ham which kept us in the tie and ultimately allowed us to get to Wembley and lift the trophy. 

Hurst basically twats it and Banks said that he’d dived too far to his right and had to twist to get his arms to it. The speed of his reactions and the strength in his arms (those balls were heavy) are something else.

Apologies. Just caught up with this. That is some save!   To push that ball out must have taken some strength.
I was lucky enough to see Gordon Banks a good few times at both Albion and Wolves.  As a little 'un we used to head down the terraces to stand right behind the goals so I got as good a look at him as I did any other keeper. One thing that really struck me was that he wasn't that big. I was too young to judge his undoubted quality, although that attribute is unquestionable. I did notice how amiable he seemed to be, always involved with play and commenting to all and sundry. A damn fine fella, and one of the very few Englishmen to lift the ultimate football trophy.
Oh, and I'm glad we're not playing your lot this Saturday!

I don't think goalies then were the man-mountains that they tend to be nowadays. He was 6"1' though, so not exactly small.
