His lack of experience told on Saturday. Still believe a more experienced manager would have hooked Gayle, it was obvious what Villas game was.

He's done a decent job, as did Big Dave before him but IMO a good experienced boss would have got this squad up automatically. For all the talk the squad isn't as good as we make out its still a pretty strong squad for this division.

Everything had to go for us to have attained automatic and it didn't. We needed Barnes to stay, we needed Phillips not to get injured, we needed our aged midfielders not to get injuries, but all season long they have picked up niggly little injuries that have kept them out of the side from time to time. Even now Livermore and Barry are unavailable.

The truth is that very rarely do you get a season where everything goes your way particularly with injuries. The truth is that the midfield has never been good enough throughout the season for us to get the results we needed. Even on Saturday, when our organisation and determination was top notch for the first hour of the game, we ended up running out of steam and retreating to our penalty box. In the first half we never gave Grealish good possession of the ball in our penalty area, both goals came from him having good possession of the ball in the penalty area, and sadly in the second half of the season we have in games against the top teams in form been found short of the necessary quality.
