This is a screenshot of Johnson whilst Sunak addresses parliament about the atrocities in the Ukraine and then the cost of living crisis. This is the man some of you will vote for at the next election.

He won't be here for the next election. Being PM was a career move. The next move will see him "doing a Blair" on the circuit, and earning a fortune telling tales of Brexit, Covid and Ukraine. Love him or hate him, he will be Box Office gold.

Wouldn't be so sure, 2 years out from a general election so the capacity for him to step down is getting smaller and the modern Tory party is built around loyalty to him.

Unless there's a catastrophe in May - unlikely due to the cycle of local elections - I'd be shocked if he's not still PM.

There's a reason Sunak has been kept out of all the shit throwing r.e. lockdown parties the last 12 months or so.

I think the main issue for the Tories is lack of a natural successor. The way things look at the moment, if Labour can't win the next election, then they never will.

There's a lack of a "natural successor" because they purged them all in the last cycle. Hammond and Stewart would surely be in the running were they still MPs, but they aren't.

Sunak is going to have his popularity tank over the next two years, his fiscal policy seems so wet, unimaginative and ill-targeted and he's shown nothing to suggest he can make tough decisions to fix things - let's not forget he's only chancellor because Cummings wanted a yes man in Number 11. Truss seems like an alien wearing a suit, also she has zero principles so there's a risk she might revert back to her Young Liberals days and call for the monarchy to be abolished. Those are the two supposed front runners. Then who is there? I like Mourdant and Wallace as they seem polished an competent but nobody knows who they are. I also like Nokes but she's never going to be leader in a million years. Zahawi and Javid might be outsiders but both have also tied themselves round the neck with the Johnson noose, and Zahawi especially has a lot of skeletons in his closet with his wealth.

Probably going to end up with Dorries or Patel.

Fucking hell.

That should kill the Tories off for a while though if the opposition are remotely competent.

I keep seeing this image of the pair of them scrapping for the title in a sawdust arena to the tune of FGTH's Two Tribes.

I wish it would stop.

Always nice to see the little Sultan as part of that crew, and there was me thinking we were fighting against fascism.

The golden era of us "fighting against fascism" has been over for some time now...
