Not everyone has a mobile phone, not everyone has a passport, and not everyone has a driving licence and for all of the other things you mention there are alternative methods, so we actually choose to do them.

There is a difference between choice and compulsion

So why would someone choose not to have a digital footprint like those above?

Ah that's an alternative version of 'if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear' - the cliche to justify an ever more intrusive state.

Anyway - off to play golf - far more pressing  Smile

It is not having a Digital ID that people are opposed to. It is having a Digital ID that is unobtainable without being coerced into receiving a medical intervention.

Exactly! Although I’m not keen anyway as it is indeed a move towards a more intrusive state, as has been said above.

But the main point is it is coercing people into medical interventions to be able to have the same freedoms in society. It’s coercing people into vaccines (two a year?) and if you don’t want them for any reason, you are penalised. It’s abhorrent.

And the way Johnson has gone from ‘we’re not a society that would require this’ to it’s clearly on the table in a few weeks is blatant goalpost moving.

I have a mobile phone but I don't choose for it to record everywhere I went.  It is almost impossible to prevent it doing this and it is instantly accessible for the forces of law and order to recover if I am arrested, even without charge.  What we do choose and actively seek to use being simple and straightforward is not so simple I think.

I completely agree. I genuinely think we must be losing our minds, it's insane to me that this is even being proposed, never mind having public support. I'm not underestimating the impact of COVID, but this isn't a solution by any stretch of the imagination.

Totally agree. I think a year of constant covid in the media has given some people a kind of ‘covid tunnel vision’. There are people, despite being vaccinated, still scared to go into places with ‘unvaccinated’ there! It’s incredible. What’s the next stage? Make them wear a badge? Round them up?

The pandemic can now be used by the government to bring things in while pretending they are for the good of society, to keep people safe, because ‘the science’ says so. And many are lapping it up as they are scared, or have covid at the front of their minds so much it’s dominating and distorting their views IMO. It’s insane.

Absolutely. And that's before get into the fact that we're introducing this without any clue of how long the antibodies last!? Explain that one! Logistically how the hell does that work!? What are the benefits of a vaccine passport? The vaccines are effective in protecting people. If you want the protection you should get jabbed if there's no medical reason for you not to. Thankfully enough people will do this so that community spread will be low.

We love having an enemy so we can feel superior. In this case the enemies are those who don't have the vaccines, even if that's for a legitimate medical reason.

If I want to be anonymous and am not doing anything wrong then I don't deserve to be treated like a criminal. Anonymity is a right.

Spot on. The funny thing is the government have dangled the carrot of get your vaccine for freedom back. Then moved the goalposts and you still can’t go on holiday! But on the more serious point, getting the vaccine to obtain a digital ID is not freedom. That’s the trick. Some people are being duped into it through fear of covid IMO.
