The Seals should have allowed Sheff U a "free goal"

Aston Villa's Jack Grealish has won more fouls this season (131) than any other player in a single Premier League campaign since Opta started recording such data (1998-99).

Why? The technology failed, not him.

Sorry I thought he was the referee

He was. He used the resources available to him - watch the footage again and he clearly gestures to a SU player that his watch hasn’t buzzed. What else was he supposed to do?

I don't know about looking at his watch if he was looking at the ball along with the linesman job done.
are the officials relying too much on the technology?

Maybe it's because it was them jammy F***ers I blamed the referee!

Surely his natural instincts of a ref would have kicked in and thought that looks like a dead cert and get VAR to have a look .

Oliver was looking through a crowd of players, no way he could have seen what happened. If used to be the lino’s job to look for those sort of incidents but with the advent of tech they tend to leave it to the camera.

It was very obvious very quickly that an error had been made. VAR should have stepped in.

Used his eyes & not relied on technology quite so much. Very quick VAR check would have settled it, much quicker than those ludicrous drinks breaks.

Again, can his eyes see through ten players?

I haven't seen the Ref view of the incident. Have you?

I have, he was towards the edge of the box when the ball came in. There was a crowd of players between him and the keeper and then the Villa defender who collided with Nyland would have obscured his view of the ball further.

No way he could have seen himself.

If you want to pick an officlal to blame, blame the linesman. It is in no way the refs fault.

They're told to use the technology that has never failed before, it sets a really dangerous precedent if we now start allowing refs to make their own minds up even when Hawkeye is in play. What's to stop a team citing an error when a goal has been given?

Oliver did the right thing, if it doesn't flash on the watch then he cannot give a goal. Whatever the linesman and those at Stockley Park were doing is anyones guess.
