Not only do I like the system, I like everything he has said. And he has seen the game pretty much identically to many of us in here.

Good, positive signs.

Indeed and I don't think he said the word "moments", although someone might prove me wrong!

Zero ‘moments’. 4 ‘constructives’. 2 blinks

He did use ‘personality’ as used by CC and Mason.

Watching that certainly improved my mood.

He saw it like we did, he was calm and has a plan.

Assessment was sound over all apart from this bit.

'.....in the first half we were very difficult to play against, we were very compact.....'

Difficult to play against and very compact may mean different things to different people though.

Tonight gave me confidence more than lost it.

Me too, especially as he wasn't afraid to tweak the system after their second. He's definitely way more astute than Mason ever was. After only 2 days training with this system, I too feel very optimistic. We beat Norwich and everything looks way better. Oh, and even Maja, who couldn't be arsed to break sweat under RM, looked committed after coming on.

I agree, his in-game management was so much better, making the substitutions after going 2-0 down

Agreed. It was nice to see some.

Did we not have a manager who made substitutions when we were 2-0 down in a game that we won 3-2. Mind you that was a long time a go!

Yes we did. But not very often this season. Fleeting moments = decent guesses.

Incredibly difficult to get a team exactly as you'd like to in 2 or 3 days of course.
He's clearly worked on trying to make us more compact and difficult to break down, as evident in the first half...
Second half was more like what we're used to, possession based, front foot football.

I get the feeling he asked them to play one half his 'new way' and the second half how they like to.play...
As he says, it needs to be a combination of the two. I don't think any of us could sit and watch the dross anti football that was on show first half... It frustrated the opposition, yes, they had less xG than us, created very little until the fluke goal. But more importantly, it frustrated the fans. You could hear a pun drop in the stadium, and I was genuinely questioning whether I could sit through that style every week!!

Thankfully we were most expensive and easier on the eye seconds half, but that's obviously because we had to chase the game.

If we can stay compact when we lose the ball, press to win it back, or to allow others behind back in to a compact shape, before breaking wide and forward quickly to create space and possession opportunities in dangerous areas, then that's what I'm sure will be more successful and have fans and players buying in to.

It's a long road, but you can clearly see a coach who understands the game, sees what we see and articulately and thoughtfully conveys his views. If he gives everyone a fair chance and treats players with respect, but challenges them to be their best, I don't think any player would not want that.

I'm ready for this journey, there will of course be bumps in the road, but as last I can see signs of positivity and growth.

On to Tuesday.

Very good to hear his view on the game in what seems to be the consensus viewpoint, rather than a discussion of moments.

The best part for me was he tried his preferred way, realised it wasnt working completely as intended, so changed it quickly, and we massively improved

If we can wed the compact, tough to break down style of the first half with the fast paced counter and transition attacking of the 2nd half, we're onto a winner. And mostly importantly, that's exactly how he viewed it.

However, my big concern is not if he’s up to it, its did the club leave it too late to make the change.

I just hope he’s got enough time to do his thing and get enough points to make sure we are comfortable.

I think the timing was more to the MSL finish than the club leaving it too late to decide.
