One thing I would have done is used Foulkes specifically for this Test.

I'm not so sure selection is the issue. I like Foulkes, and he'd have snaffled the dropped Smith catches, but he'd have made little difference to the result and performance in this Test. 

I'm fully aware you'll disagree   but our issues stem from the attitude and how we go about playing the Test format. It's all wrong. 

It doesn't matter what combination of players we put in the middle, the style and the reluctance to not throw out wickets away, is always going to be out downfall.

The bowling attack - we’re coming to terms with losing 2 of the greatest bowlers ever. They lack the consistency of the Aussie bowlers. We may have spells of brilliance from them but too often there’s a loose ball every over.
