Grooming Gang inquiry

Not at all, there is an opportunity to have an enquiry into the wider issue of Child Sexual Abuse that covers the recommendation but you feel there is a need to focus on the accusations directly impacting one specific ethnicity, the Pakistani community.

You are the disingenuous one here, you're not interested in the child sexual exploitation and abuse element, you are interested in the accusations against the Pakistani community. The enquiry will cover the grooming gangs, that is your wish, it will also cover other areas.

Jesus wept, I've stated what has happened in my first post on the thread after OP said it was hard to fathom what happened. You've jumped in with your big Starmer shield despite admitting limited knowledge of the events. I've explained why your rebuttal was wrong, and - BB will like this - you've thrown in the red herring fallacy Labour are using in this issue and an ad hominem in the same post in response.

Sometimes you can just stay out of a topic if it's deeper water than you're used to...

Arf, gotta love a trier. Explain to me why you would want a specific enquiry into grooming gangs. While you're at it take a look at this report published in March and specifically at Table 4 on page 42

Jess Phillips comes across as torn at present

On one hand she wants to do the right thing for victims and be as open etc

Yet comes across as shes under pressure from above not to rock too many boats for fear of upsetting many LAbour voters

It is called The national inquiry into the sexual exploitation of children by grooming gangs in England and Wales so the question is why wouldn't you?

You haven't linked anything.

The 2022 Jay Report has already done the overarching investigation into CSEA that Labour are trying to dilute this inquiry with. Casey's recommendations were clear as to the scope and time limited nature of this inquiry. To borrow a phrase from Keif yesterday, it should remain 'laser focused' on Grooming Gangs.

I haven't met a single Labour voter that doesn't want Pakistani grooming gangs, and the agents of the state that kept them hidden, exposed and made accountable.  Some want it wider, some don't.  The only upset I've seen is that this fucking thing keeps on getting delayed.

However, as we have realised with this government, if there is a 'right answer' to a drama, they sure as hell will pick the opposite thing to say.  They're giving Sunak a run for his money.

So it would seem. But they seem to conveniently ignore the fact that most grooming gangs are white.
I wonder why?

Dont forget mps whilst in power will do anything to remain there

Principles & promises made prior to the election mean naff all, once the ordinary plebs have voted them in

If your elected to represent an area say with 80% conservative muslims its highly unlikely you will want to upset them

CH4 investigated it over 20 years ago but was ignored by various agencies for fear of causing unrest

Labour now have the hot potatoe & have no one to pass it on to

Given one of the two candidates has said that ‘I think many of the victims and survivors were being disrespected and misinformed’ has now withdrawn his candidacy along with four survivors and the other candidate it is perfectly acceptable to listen and act upon the concerns of those who have left the process. What is the alternative, ignore their views, only listen to those who agree with the process and carry on regardless.

This government already has a tin ear and reputation for ignoring people’s concerns when it makes decisions, to not accept that and alter course only compounds this perception.

One thing Jess definitely is not is a fraud

That’s why I find the whole thing so sad, on top of the obvious reasons
