We’re going to need him to play otherwise it’s Wallace or Grant

Prior to last season Taylor had made 30+ appearances for Burnley in 5 out of 6 seasons so suggests his injury can't be that bad.

32 this month, has not started a league game for nearly a year. A signing like Kelly and Bryan.

I thought, given the fee accepted, there must have been a need to get an addition over the line in the final days of the window but it seems we’re now merely adding squad fillers at a time when we still have sizeable issues with creativity in the squad.

The decision to go into the season with Mowatt-Molumby still as our starting midfield duo, and having such a lack of pace in attack is a mistake. Think we need to prepare ourselves for a few more frustrating Pompey style draws again!

With regard your last point, we have Biliek, Diakite and Collyer, why did you expect more in that area?

As for Fellows, I guess the plan all along was to sell him to balance the overall books, out of necessity, after the purchases we have made this summer and in January gone. Some of those purchase came as a surprise given the PSR situation. We then hoped for an auction but sadly only Saints were interested.

Depends whether Mason views Collyer as a regular starter.

In hindsight with our clever owners,  spending the cash before selling and letting clubs know we have money should have been a good move. Perhaps Southampton knew what we were up to and turned that on its head with a low offer we couldn't refuse

Bryan's entire career had been plagued by injury and Kelly hadn't played for a couple of years so harsh to compare Taylor to those two. Also, it would only be a loan so very low risk. It's not like we'd be saddled with him for a couple of years. I'm by no means saying it would be a great signing but also not a bad signing. He's got lots of experience in the top two divisions and is a solid pro.

Good point, if it is a loan but at 32 and not having started a game for a year will he be fit enough.
