Incidentally, on our way back from the Scottish Islands, we stopped over at a hotel in Dumfries & Galloway. Lovely place, but full of Americans who were over for a wedding. Everyone else could hear their conversations, loud or what !

I suspect I know more of them than you do and in my experience there are as high a proportion of Brits that would qualify under that description as there are Americans.

I worked for and with Americans for 33 years in insurance engineering. Some were loud, some not but they were all confident people and not shy to have an opinion. True, they weren't It seems to be in their schooling to be this way.
The main thing that I disliked about them was their superficial friendship. Great pals, do anything for you people, yet after all those years and close working relationships with a high number of them, less than a handful have kept in touch since retirement.

I really like America and Americans, IMO we have a much higher wanker quotient than they do in the States and we are much higher ranking in terms of general cynicism and just being a bunch of miserable fuckers.
