The key is to go into it expecting a completely different game to the men's game. It's less physical, and more technical, it is a slower tempo, and yes, the GK's are, in general, awful. But there's plenty of quality to be found, and the absence of play-acting and time wasting, which adds to the flow of the game.
What time is KO, and what's the equation?
Well I think that this tournament has shown that goalkeeping continues to significantly improve and is no longer the weak link in the game.
However and it is an unfortunate however, the Spanish have shown that play acting has crept into the game. As a team their attitude was completely off. Several dives across the tournament and very salty comments following the final.
The Italians were the most depressing in this regard. Not just shades but full-on dayglo throwbacks to the dark arts exemplified by the Italian men's teams of yesteryear.
As the women's game grows and money plays an ever greater part, I wonder what the cost of winning will become? For now at least, the women's version both on and off the pitch really is the beautiful game.
