If you care to read Percy's tweet it said Wicky was our favoured person for the role and was having contract talks.
As with everything in social media, conversations and general communication many people misinterpret, mostly accidental.
It becomes like one big game of Chinese whispers.
Percy's reputation remains intact to people who actually took in what he said.

In light of your somewhat crude comeback I actually googled him!
If I was one for pursuing extreme intimacy with a fellow male he certainly would not be my sort.
He looks a bit of a brute and not one who wows the ladies. Maybe he’s more your type Parrot? Smiley winky emoji with rainbow flag!

Our first choice didn’t want the job, and whilst Brunt and Damia have done a decent job following CC’s blueprint the former doesn’t want the job long term and the latter is a stats man with a laptop regardless of his playing experience.
Mowbray is an experienced hand, with a very solid track record of improving teams, steadily building them up the division, integrating youth players and at least trying to play decent football. He also eschews the family values and principles our ownership claim are fundamental.
Our squad need a manager, and I suppose our ownership need someone with some nous and experience and he comes with bag loads of both. I don’t expect miracles, and I imagine we will continue to float around 5th-8th as we see the season out and continue the rebuild.
I expect it’s an 18 month deal which both parties review in the summer.
I’d rather this than handing a big contract to someone who didn’t have the unanimous backing of our ownership, or who was very much 2rd or 3rd choice.
Welcome back Mogga, let’s hope your second spell is as much fun as the first.
Bang on for me too
An interesting view but, a lot of the above, paragraphs 3-5, could have applied to Steve Bruce.
We should not be giving him an 18 month contract, the end of the season is fine bearing in mind his health
For every Hodgson there has been a Saunders, Gould, Little, Smith, Pardew, Bruce. We do far better with young managers with something to prove
Disagree. There will be clauses regarding any occurrence of his illness. An 18-month contract is the minimum that we should offer to a proven manager at this level. I disagree, it needs to be performance related. We offered those type of contracts to Bruce and Ismael and would have had to pay them compensation.
