Dood and co were first to this, it does have to be said.

Though, I think it was Nixon who was first to say that Mowbray was very keen on the job.

Great news I thinks. We need stability, experience and a catalyst. He could wel he all three for now.

I think even those who have (valid) reservations will get behind him

As I’ve said on several posts now, he’s not my first choice and I’m a bit surprised we’ve ended up here after almost a month of looking but it makes sense.

Our first choice didn’t want the job, and whilst Brunt and Damia have done a decent job following CC’s blueprint the former doesn’t want the job long term and the latter is a stats man with a laptop regardless of his playing experience.

Mowbray is an experienced hand, with a very solid track record of improving teams, steadily building them up the division, integrating youth players and at least trying to play decent football. He also eschews the family values and principles our ownership claim are fundamental.

Our squad need a manager, and I suppose our ownership need someone with some nous and experience and he comes with bag loads of both. I don’t expect miracles, and I imagine we will continue to float around 5th-8th as we see the season out and continue the rebuild.

I expect it’s an 18 month deal which both parties review in the summer.

I’d rather this than handing a big contract to someone who didn’t have the unanimous backing of our ownership, or who was very much 2rd or 3rd choice.

Welcome back Mogga, let’s hope your second spell is as much fun as the first.

Agree with this, although hoping - and expecting - a bit more pragmatism this time around.
