I reckon when we employed Hodgson it was a case of… quick see if he’s interested, he is! Give him the job if we can afford the contract. We can, brilliant… the end.

Met Dan Ashworth. This doesn't sound too far off from what happened in fairness .

IIRC the Hodgson appointment was not popular amongst many fans, Hawkins being one of them. Was that really 13 years ago

A few grumbles from a small minority of fans most were delighted he was appointed as we needed to stay up and to do that we needed to be more organised.

I remember it was a split between whether people wanted Hodgson or Hughton. I think Hughton was the bookies favourite

What were CC's odds? I can't remember if he was linked and whether it came out of nowhere, or not.

A very top heavy and long winded approach to managerial recruitment which could see 'the obvious choice' slip through your Amstel stained fingers. Yours, Ron Gourlay .
I would amend that slightly. A bit like the playing staff recruitment meeting, it's critical there should also be a proactive part where you look to see who's recently become available and see whether they are an improvement in the long and short term. Hodgson fitted into that category - so did Steve Bruce. The difference is the discussion about Bruce should have just been a wry smile and the phrase "Who's next?"
It didn't take a footballing genius to know that Steve Bruce would be a disaster. Christ, even I knew...and I thought Wayne Rooney deserved another chance after his failure in America!

Yes I did on a couple of occasions, now I could pretend to be itk but all I did was think decent manager, managing a pretty crap squad and getting decent results with them. We should be considering him. That’s all the alleged ITK’s do, fugging guess.
If it did happen I shall set up a Twatter account and call myself Baggie Boop
His unfancied Blackburn team are a point behind Albion with a game in hand. Last season his unfancied blues beat us to leapfrog us into 4th place (before he was inexplicably sacked). He certainly deserves a go at a better run club but his much mentioned (by his own fans wherever he goes) unadventurous approach would be a minus with many.
