Trump
No-one takes any notice of that twat anyway, in fairness.

Owen Jones being unhappy is currently the only positive I can think of for Trump winning the election. Every cloud

Inflation was caused by Trumps diabolical handling of COVID, and last few years were under his tax plan, since the US system is so slow, so the high prices are Trumps fault, Biden issued more oil drilling licences than Trump did.

This is why I get so frustrated, people just aren't clever enough, don't read enough, don't listen enough, if you think learning stops when you leave school and your opinions can never change, you're a failure of a human mind.

True.

He really is a cunt, proving all sides have cunts.

Initially aghast, I'm starting to feel comforted.

We can see you America. The most truly capitalist country in the world behaving as capitalists do. Happy to have some fasc to put more money in their pockets.

As for Trump. No more bitching about stolen elections, you've got four years to turn your nations economy around. That's ALL that matters, If you can stay alive that long (I mean he's fuckinģ ancient, rather than him being shot).

As for the rest of us. The capitalist billionaires are now in almost total control across the world and moving political discourse ever rightwards to extend their wealth and power. And they will tell us we are lucky to have them.

It's also lucky for us that their media is truth based, its lucky for us that Global Warming is just a woke scam, it's lucky that there arn't aggressive nation states attacking democratic countries, its lucky arms sales arn't a massively lucrative commodity for said billionaires, it's lucky that all our problems ARE actually caused by the poorest in society who can now be further demonized rather than those in actual power who pull the levers.

So, let's sit back and relax and watch the party unfold. At least we're guaranteed a center right government for four more years. Feels like a blessing, rather than a curse, in comparison.

I might just be drunk on disgust. I'll tell you when the hangover kicks in.

ID cards would be helpful, particularly in stopping the UK being so attractive to criminals wanting to use imported slave labour, but the people and media so vocal about opposing illegal immigration torpedoed that idea too.

I don't disagree Squid.

My God, I think Owen might finally understand what motivates voters.

Imagine the surprise in store for that taxi driver when he finds out that voting for someone who intends to cut taxes for the wealthy and impose higher tariffs on imports , will see prices rise even higher.

There's a warning from America to the whole of Europe, as if you didn't know it already.

Germany elects a weak coalition - economy tanks, anti-immigrant rhetoric rises.

France elects Petit Napolean - economy tanks, anti-immigrant rhetoric rises.

UK elects St Keir - first thing he does is impose taxes that will suppress wages & employment prospects [DEKKA!] (no mention of that on the side of a bus), watch what happens now that he has no plan to deal with immigration....

The US and the whole of Europe has voted for comforting lies for decades. If your governments lie to you (consistently) about the price of the world you want, don't be surprised when the electorate decides mainstream politics is not for them. And rightly so.

S&P / Nasdaq futures up substantially this morning on the Trump trade btw.

Swap rates down 5bps as well.

And the insufferably patronising Rory Stewart.

Good post.

It's a nice position to take but I'm not sure it tallies with reality anymore.

We like to believe in goodness and that if you act the right way then good will prevail, but it's increasingly not the case. Trump is a convicted felon, a sex offender, he even incited an insurrection against the democratic process and yet people still voted for him.

Even in this country you have morons who think Farage is the answer, the hard of thinking who take part in race riots and support "Our Tommeh" and think that getting rid of non-white people will solve all the world's problems. Just look at the Tories, even after years of incompetence, entitlement, contempt for normal normal and flagrant corruption people still yearn for them back. I'm no longer convinced this couldn't happen over here.

The only rational conclusion is that we share this planet with a lot of utter cunts.
