I've absolutely no doubt Taylor Swift's intentions are nothing but good, but the fact is there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, who will vote for a candidate just because Taylor has. Now, any vote against Trump should be encouraged, I'm not denying that. But the wider picture is that we're dangerously close to letting mega stars dictate who their fans vote for. Unintentionally, or otherwise. That's something that doesn't sit right with me. Regardless of how many votes go against that floppy haired racist nutjob.
I understand that celebrities advocating for one political party or an other is nothing new, but with social media it feels like it's more dangerous than ever.
American commentator I saw on the news said it won't make a scrap of difference as Swifties are all Democrats anyway.
I wouldn't know either way

It's always happened and if people are so stupid that they'll only vote for someone because a celeb has told them then it shows how screwed up modern democracy is.

It seems unlikely that they'll all be Democrats, unless MAGA people are boycotting her in an organised way for her support of Democrats in the past! Even if they are largely Democrats, they still need to be motivated to make the effort to vote rather than not bothering.
There have been a number of reports that the link Taylor Swift provided to the voter.org registration website was used well over 300,000 times in short order after her endorsement of Kamala, so you have to assume that the vast majority of these are people who haven't yet registered.

Musk is doing a lot, lot more on behalf of Trump multiple times a day, including spreading conspiracy theories like the ridiculous and disproven "immigrants eating people's dogs/cats in Ohio" thing.
In the face of that, I'm quite happy for Democrat-supporting celebs to say their two-penneth, primarily because I think it's absolutely vital for the planet as a whole that Trump is defeated.

Bra fucking vo!
That’s a big deal for Harris. Swift is one of the most influential people in America right now.
It'll also shift a few more votes Trump's way.
Probably not.
The endorsement of someone as hugely influential as her, with a good wholesome image is worth an enormous amount. I don't think I even know one song by her and my 20 year old daughter despises her, but it still doesn't change our opinions on Trump.
Simply a few states will decide this election and if Trump get's back in power it'll be based on those who probably will be deeply unhappy with both parties and vote for what they see as the lesser of two evils.
As appalling as Trump is his message does resonate with many that they are now living in a place that has changed around them, with jobs gone, immigrants galore and a feeling of loss of opportunity.
Harris needs to talk to these people and say how she's going to give them hope and if she can convey that she'll win. In many ways it's pretty identical to what we had here a few months ago. I had commentators say Harris was a terrible speaker, which I doubted have been a prosecutor, so I watched the debate with a bit of apprehension, but she hammered him and he looked like the joke he is.
I don't know why Carolina baggie would be embarrassed by both candidates as she has not done anything wrong yet imo.
I wonder if she'll shaft her pensioners too, like Labour did then gave Ukraine £700m less than 24 hours later.
I hate Putin and the War in Ukraine but I hope all this money going to them from the start have been in the form of loans.
Not that long ago we finished paying our loans to America for the second world war, so if we have this £20bn black hole in the finances and the first installment of filling the hole is to hammer pensioners, it's not right to keep on throwing money at Ukraine without ever getting it back.
Always, as in watching a football match, you will look for what you want to see. Misplaced pass by Conor Townsend and he's crap, despite him being at a Prem team now.
Equally if you think a state prosecutor wasn't more articulate than a mad man like Trump who talked about pets being eaten and made childish comments about no one going to her rallies, then you must be so far ensconced in the Trump cult then you are beyond hope.
I think most of us on here are bias, in that we see Trump as a disgusting bloke, but regardless, I'd say those watching totally neutrally can see he was made to look a total joke, by a far more articulate and intelligent opponent.

One of the modern consequences of lies on social media being spread by shameful, despicable influential people:
" Haitians in Springfield, Ohio, are keeping their children home and reporting damage to their property as anti-immigrant conspiracy theories spread, fanned by statements by Trump and Vance"
Source
The above relates to the "immigrants eating dogs and cats" lie.
It's 2024, but mankind doesn't seem to be learning very much. In fact, social media seems to be making many people regress to being knuckle-dragging neanderthals...

The Neanderthals were a highly skilled primate group. Do not compare them to the MAGA cap-wearing brigade.

With Europe veering to the extreme right, when you are supposed to learn from mistakes of the past.
Social media is the conduit but it is cunts like Musk who are put on a pedestal for basically inventing or discovering nothing and just being rich and then all the morons think he's rich he must right.
They ignore everything negative about a person and just look at their net worth.
I firmly believe mankind is regressing at a rapid rate, and I think the way the far right are rising in Europe we may have another non nuclear weapon world war, and I just pray we are on the right side again when it happens and more importantly the USA are too.
Obviously, I hope I am wrong!!!

Nail on the head. I was only thinking about social media and its effects a few days ago. I’ve noticed more people think everything is a conspiracy, flat earthers, science is a waste of time, and more. People like Trump help this sort of shit. I despair.

To answer some of the posts above, I concede that Harris is a bit better than Trump, not that that is really saying much imo. I am not enthralled with everything she wants to do either and still say how many politicians there are over here we could have done better with our candidates that's all. I have a feeling Trump will win, but if Harris does, cool.
As to how I am a Baggies fan? Pretty simple: Started following the Prem back in 2011 and just keyed in on WBA due to the kits, their underdog mentality(To me at least) etc; and Odemwingie quickly became my favorite player.
