Harris names Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz as running mate, to a mixed response. Centrists wanted Shapiro while Liberals wanted Waltz.

Unlikely Waltz delivers any states she wouldn't already expect to win, but it's a cohesive ticket that will sing from the same hymn sheet.

Time to bring this thread back to the top unless mods think it would be better to make a new one? Just over an hour until the US election debate head to head between Harris and Trump.

Trump goes into it with a very slender lead based on the latest poll out of NYC (NYT/Siena College), which normally means he's got a slightly bigger lead than the polls show... therefore tonight should be about damaging Harris as much as possible without making any serious gaffes for the Trump campaign; while introducing herself to the nation and treading the fine line of not overtly defending the Biden administration in an attempt to present herself as the change candidate, but highlighting the successes of the last 3 and a half years to provide some credibility as a serious contender for the Harris campaign.

Very difficult for either candidate to strike a decisive blow in this debate, but far more at stake for the Dems imo.
