Impressive first showing that speech by Harris overnight. One on one debates with Trump and think she’ll destroy him in the eyes of all but the insane morons who are his core followers.

Insane morons and the very religious. My Missus is American, has a lot of friends over there, and the bible bashers are all of the opinion it was God who saved Trump when he got shot. In their mind, the good Lord wants him as President. I fear that will push him into power.

The shooter missed, "God" had nothing to do with it. If there was indeed a "God" watching over that rally with the power to manipulate the outcome, wouldn't he/she/they/it have ensured that no-one was harmed? Indeed, wouldn't that be the case for any fatal accidents/misfortune in general?

Ergo, I think it's OK for anyone who thinks that God saved Trump to be lumped in with the unhinged MAGA acolytes. Also, the ultra-evangelicals were already supporting Trump anyway before this - quite how they've come to regard him as a paragon of religious morals, when he's entirely the opposite and not the least bit genuinely religious himself, is entirely beyond me.

There is no point in applying rationality or logic to the thinking of the nationalistic Christian Right, most of whom believe in Creation and literal biblical truth-  literally as items of faith.

So long as Trump gives them nourishment with bigotry and any false claims they want to hear, they will follow his hypocritical cult as an "imperfect vessel" to deliver it to them.

Interesting tightrope for Harris to walk in the next couple of days, could have probably done with Biden hanging on to announce dropping out a week longer to take the flak.

Netanyahu has given Trump effusive praise in the Houses today in his speech and she didn't bother attending. She is due to meet him tomorrow though against a backdrop of protests on the streets and the hard left of her party wanting change to their policy regards the war (one Dem Representative in the lower chamber holding a placard calling him a war criminal while he spoke).

Meanwhile, she's drawn a line in the sand on abortion which could easily go both ways with the crazy US electorate.

Trump has been uncharacteristically quiet today aside from on Truth Social which no one really reads. He must be getting good counsel at the minute. That said he's got a rally today in North Carolina so there's still time.
