Stoke visit

The late Dorrans freekick winner under Roy was a bit special and completely unexpected

MAF that day schooled Shawcross and Huth - Still the best display of playing as a lone frontman I've ever had the pleasure to witness.

Forecast is high winds. Haven't they had games called off there for strong winds?
Sure did - 2nd Promotion under SGM.  Ended up on the keg in a boozer near the station.  Probably my best awayday there....

Needless to say, we got thumped 1-4 in the rearranged game.  Houlty let a goal in when the ball was travelling that slowly it was gathering moss.  Koumas stupidly got sent off and missed a few PL games the season after.

I might be wrong, but I think it's the only game we've ever had called off at the current ground.

We should o won instead of a 1-1 - would have done the double over them that year - and City went up automatically.

First visit was Dec 1979, lost 2-3. I missed 4 there in the 90s when I was living in London and I missed the Hodgson draw and the three previous visits before I went last season. So I could have potentially clocked up 27 visits there in my time as an Albion fan. We can't get rid of 'em.

PS - Saw Hull there as well, so it is my 20th overall. They won 3-2 and that was the first time I'd ever seen the away side win there - I was there for the 2-1 when Dorrans scored.

My first visit there too mon. Garth Crooks hat trick if I remember right?

3 visits to the Vic and only 1 as of yet to the Brit for me.

Yes. We were 2-0 down, came back to level through Regis and Peter Barnes. Then John Wile sent a back pass to Crooks who went round Godden and got the winner an his hat-trick about 3 minutes from the end. Typical.

A mate of mine, now lamentably deceased, started that off.

Victoria Ground is quite special to me. It was my 13 year old daughters first ever game, 24 years ago. And I got done for parking. We lost as usual, 2-0 I think. I took her because she wanted to support Port Vale cause of Robbie Williams but I converted her, although she told me she loved it she told my wife she hated it, so I made her go to every home game for the rest of the season. She finally got hooked and has been going ever since.                                For a while her boyfriend was Keith Curles nephew, a time when we always beat Wolves, although a dingle he was a nice guy, nothing to do with getting us free tickets at the custard bowl and Bramhall Lane
