How the hell are Man City selling these players with no first team appearances for them for that much?

Crazy. Like Bournemouth spending millions on players Liverpool didn't want for daft sums a couple of seasons ago. They spend a lot of money but they don't have recoup some fees on what they do sell.

A lot of it is just about reading the way football is heading… we have been terrible at this historically, and continue to be so. Right now older players are happier than ever to move on shorter contracts with large signing on fees but without the security of a long deal as they know they can negotiate a short term bonus, there are overseas paydays as a last resort, and the general medical care is such that at 28-29 you can still have another 5-6 years easily.

Fees are being invested into younger players, and potential is driving the highest premium I’ve ever seen. There’s always also been a premium on players purchased from attacking teams.

Yet, we continue to buck the trend, look for older players on longer contracts, renew those that don’t require renewing, fail to invest in players with any hope of a resale, and continue to make appointments favouring defensive styles of play despite needing to sell for profits now more than ever.

It’s so bloody frustrating how amateurish we continue to be. Football isn’t difficult, but my god we make it look that way.

Limited funds, small squad, history of squad struggling with injuries - it would make absolutely no sense.

Plus, he’s crap, he’s approaching 30, will be on decent wages, and there’s no real potential to improve and sell him.

Nailed on to sign.

Why though, just why? Coming from the Prem so wages high, 33, never pulled up any trees and it's an area were we are not short. May as well have kept Livermore.

Can't see there being any truth in it, hope not.

Good chance it's Colback's agent feeding that then if it's Nixon, and if so it's more likely they're using us to generate interest and inflate offers from other clubs.
