It's The Ashes (again)

If the Aussies had beaten us by just being better, then fine. Can live with that.

But we have thrown away all of these matches so far. It's just very poor.

They are the no1 cricket nation. They are better than England. Sometimes the facts speak for themselves.

They are better, no disagreement. But we've thrown away these Tests with stupid mistakes. Definitely Edgbaston, possibly Lords (although it took a superhuman Stokes innings to get close).

And now this Test. We've had them in a great positions at 89-4, and then again getting the last 6 wickets for 20 odd runs. And twice we've left them get ahead again with the Marsh century, and now with these stupid wickets.

I'm not saying the Aussies wouldn't win anyway. But we've been architects of our own downfall.

Agreed. We have lost this series by repeating the same mistakes and not capitalising on strong positions. We only have ourselves to blame. Australia haven't been great. They've been very average. But fair play to them, they've been clinical and taken their chances.

Bazball can seriously fuck off.

Again, this is nothing to do with Bazball. This is just poor cricket mistakes. The dropped catches and extras are poor regardless of the tactics.

eg if Root hangs on to Marsh, we wouldn't be that far behind already.

McCullum is overseeing the most embarrassing Ashes home series in a generation. He is ultimately accountable. His arrogance and pig headed stupidity is clearly filtering down to the players.

The guy is a moron.

Mate, calm down. Those statements are just not correct.

We've dropped catches, which England have done for decades, that have cost us. Ultimately McCullums "arrogance" won us 11 in 14 Tests. Australia are just better than those teams, and the mistakes we've made have been pounced upon.

This way of playing cricket is not sustainable. Attitudes must change.

All well and good beating Ireland at a gloomy Lord's. Congratulations to Bazz.

Ignoring winning 3-0 IN Pakistan, beating New Zealand 3-0, and beating SA 2-1. And the excellent Test win against India.

Of course playing this way is sustainable. They just need to cut out the really poor mistakes.

Its high risk cricket and wont work against better teams.

Dropped catches, missed stumpings, poor shot selection and poor team selection aint gonna win many games

This is true with any tactics. This isn't anything to do specifically with the mentality that Bazball is meant to be.

People need to stop eqauting the two.

Dropping regulation catches is “high risk cricket”?

Poor mistakes with the bat because of the ridiculous gung-ho style that has been drummed into the players. Buckett, Root, Bairstow have all lost their wickets to poor shot selection at the request of Stokes and McCullum. It's that reason, combined with shoddy catching and poor selection which is why we will lose this Test and series.

I wonder why we have suddenly become so lacklustre in the field? I suggest it comes from the coach and his blase half arsed approach.

That's my guess, too. They're treating playing a Test match like a jolly boys holiday, there seems to be a lack of proffesionalism accross the board. It's now showing after the initial honeymoon period, sadly.

Fucking idiot Mo.

Top edge, lands safe, so he plays the same shot and top edges again.

Stupid shot, again.

I hope we're all being entertained by this wonderful brand of cricket we're seeing...

I just can't get my head around the sheer arrogance and ignorance to not play the game situation, but keep on pressing the self destruct button. It truly is bizarre.
