It'll take a lot to get the outfield playable once the rain stops (13:00 according to Met Office app right now). No play before 14:00, maybe even 15:00? Edgbaston ground staff are excellent. Two sessions (60 overs) max, a session and a half seems about right, so 45 overs? I'm not sure what the craic is with making up for lost time on the final day. Pragamist? Anyone else know?
We're in the hands of the Rain God now and how quickly the ground staff can drain the outfield. It'll be a shame if rain spoils the finale of a superb Test match.
Saw a pic of the ground still in sunshine as 8.15pm last night and a comment that it was the latest time that they could theoretically be playing tonight but I’m not sure what the exact playing regulations are.
I think the latest they can play is 7:30pm. Last night it was 7pm, but not sure if they can add another 30 minutes if a result is close?
According to the cricinfo live comms, we can keep going as long as the light holds and the umpires allow tonight.
So Broady could still be steaming in at 8:30 trying to create his own "Jones.... Bowden..... Kasprowicz the man to go" moment.
It was Harminson that took the winning wicket in 2005.

Yes... I know.
I'm quoting Richie Benaud's commentary of the moment.

I was privileged to be there that Sunday in 2005. I've never seen tension like it. But, but, but, the damage had been done on the night before. Unfortunately we still have a lot of batting to roll over.

Don't be so negative. How dare you assume that Australia have a chance of victory!

Play to resume at 14:15. 67 overs (I wasn't far wrong!). Australia need 174 (2.6 RRR tough to chase in these conditions) we need 7 wickets (still a good pitch and I question Moeen's fitness, if he's fully fit and bowling well we stand a good chance of taking the wickets we need).
You just can't call it. I make us favourites. Only just. It's gonna be one of those days where a boundary or two and momentum swings to Australia, and a wicket puts us in the box seat. There'll be plenty of twists and turns.
Don't rule out the tie or draw either. It's gonna be a cracker.
Test cricket. Fucking hell.

Sharing thoughts and discussing a topic on a forum. How crazy of me. Next I'll be going to the opticians for an eye test!

Think it's optimistic to expect a start, let alone a finish. I'm 5 mile away and it's still raining here
Hope I'm wrong, a game as good as this deserves a result.
