Not really Borin' to me he's clearly the best option, if we had better viable options available we wouldn't be going back to him
His style of cricket suits how England are playing right now, I've no issue with it We're not expecting our spinner to take 10 wickets a match and Root is massively under rated as a spinner. If Mo holds up an end, gets some turn when available and he will score way more runs than Leach would have then all is good Nice to see the Indians lobbing a few throw downs at Smith and Head currently, dear me Cuzer

Now he's not played any since 2021, only plays for Birmingham (not Warwickshire) and franchise cricket. Don't even think he's played for the Warks 2nd XI. Head is going to have him on toast.

He's in good nick sure but I wouldn't say he holds any fear for the English think tank like Lauberchagne or Smith do
Hussain did a good piece on him I caught at tea, into the ribs around the wicket, India went short outside off stump with no fly slip - braindead, he helped himself to a 4 and a 6, be a different approach under Stokes' leadership I'd wager Cuzer

There's a reason I specifically mentioned him over Smith and Labuschagne even though they're both better batsmen.

Sad indictment on the quality of spinners in County Cricket, but probably the right call. If it had been any other series except the Ashes, I think they'd have given a younger player a chance, but they're taking the lowest risk option.

His year on year averages are below. He's clearly a good batsmen with those numbers. Granted, I do expect Stokes to have more of a plan that the Indians have today, but you absolutely can't underestimate him. 2018 - 10 innings, 33.9 2019 - 17 innings, 49.4 2020 - 4 innings, 18 2021 - 4 innings, 62 2022 - 15 innings, 50.3 2023 - 8 innings, 72.3 and greatly increasing after this innings you'd imagine. |
