#BuyGold

The circus hasnt even begun

If you believe that then buy more...
Views on the nature of the intervention/US govt approach?

I'm now more concerned by HMT "leaning" on HSBC to bail out SVB UK now that's emerged.

What did HMT do?

The usual form is that HMT (or in days gone by, the Bank of England) assemble representatives of all the banks, and say we think one of you should buy this and leave the room.

They then return at a pre-agreed time, and are usually told that there are no takers. At this point HMT indicates that the cost of funds held centrally will increase by £xbn to cover the potential costs f the failure of said bank. They then leave the room again.

They return at a later agreed time, and miraculously an institution has agreed to buy the bank, usually with financial support from the others.
