Could be much much longer than that.

All hangs on interest rates and whether central banks insist on causing recessions to bring inflation back down to 2% (I expect them not to...so #buygold)

Funny that, the small amount (forgive me, I just don't trust your judgement calls Smile ) that I bought 3 years ago has risen just over 10% yet inflation has been 16% over that time.  I think that's a loss.

Still, this could be the week...

As opposed to you keeping it the bank/under the mattress? But don't listen to me; my daughter is giving me pelters for telling her to stick her Child Trust Funds dosh into a LISA/Stocks and Shares ISA (she's not long turned 18).

You would have lost in nominal terms (and hugely in real terms) on bonds and growth stocks over that period, so I suspect you owe me a pint.

S&P 500 is up 5% in three years when adjusted for inflation and you get dividends.

Gold doesn't give you dividends (I'm of Indian descent, I would know given how much jewellery my mum has).

Diversification, as ever - is the key.
