I wasn't at the game, but watching the highlight afterwards, I was so proud of Megson and his team. We kept our heads while others lost theirs. If I was a Blades fan that day, I'd have hung my head in shame.

It doesn't matter how many good things Colin has said about us since, I'll never forgive or forget his actions that day, as they were a disgrace to the game.

The walk to the motor was interesting, I still think to this day, that wanker should never have worked in football management again.

Gets forgotten their fans acted like wankers that day too .
Totally spot on. Never left a ground so angry as that day - Colin should have had the book thrown at him.

It was not a nice place to be walking back to the car.

I was in the posh seats courtesy of no other than Keith Curle. His nephew was
my daughters boy friend at the time, they used to baby sit for him and Mark Hughes. An avid Baggie she was with me, we felt a little removed from the main intensity but still had the sense of anger on both sides.
Left the stadium bewildered
Keith came up trumps for tickets many times. Nice guy to talk to.

Was at Disneyland Paris, somewhat surreally.

Megson's post-match interview was the stuff of legend and summed up what he had turned us into by that point.

I think some of you have nailed it. There did seem some extra bonding and team spirit after that day. Echo the comments on Colin as well. Utter cnutage in abundance

I have always thought it was a misnomer.

A battle implies two sides fighting. Baggies just wanted to play football. The shithousery came from Sheffield United.

One I'll always to remember going to it, a legendary game in the style of Woking I guess, in the list of crazy Albion games.

Although fuming at the time, ultimately we got the crucial points and can now be looked back at with 'fondness' and nostalgia as a proper legendary game of the ultimate season. A season I doubt will ever be topped, even if we win the Champions League (arf).

It had everything that season, and this was a standout. Worthy of being recognised as such and remembered.

Good post.  I wasnt angry particularly - as disgrace as it was, we were always getting the points.  I would of been angry if we hadnt been able to break down their 8 men.....

The walk back to the Poly bar/ that Tudor pub on the roundabout was a bit fresh.  Someone get smacked inside the ground in the match 2 years later (that we also won).

Sheff nearly kicking it off in the Devonshire Cat in the evening by putting on a Baggies top.  (He argued the logic of why he could do so in his former student uni pub....  we buggered off PDQ dragging him with us...)
