Striker and Krov

3 at most with a loan striker/defender being the 3rd

Sorry China :p

Big Grin just reading on the twatter that sheff Wednesday want us to pay some of the wages for zahore so he can go on loan .....lol

If it frees up 30-40k, it’s worth doing, we aren’t going to move him any other way.

They only want to pay £25 K p/w, less than half, apparently.

Probably find we’ll wait for the off chance another team comes in who’ll pay a bit more, or we can somehow find someone out in China or the Middle East to take him!

If not, even moving 50% of his wages would be better than us paying him to sit in the reserves.

Forest, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday in desperate straits.  Forest will probably sell Lolley so would have the money.  Boro want him too.

Sheff Wed soundly beaten 2-0 by Bristol (Brunty on the bench) today. That might encourage them to raid their piggy bank sharpish.

Filip Krovinovic is due to complete his loan return to West Brom from Benfica today. #wba

I bet it's always an awkward moment when Nick has to give his full name out to someone.

Interestingly to see how we’ve structured the deals it wouldn’t surprise me if successful and we survive that we try signing Gallagher, Krovinovic and convert Grant Loan into a Permanent. That outlay would be around circa £35m. Just shows what we are up against, though saying that we’d have a smaller wage bill as 10 players are out of contract.

I think promotion maybe came 12 months too soon for us. Realise with Covid that’s a luxury we could ill afford, but based on our squad another 12 months in the Champ - without a global Pandemic - would have been better IMO.

We’d have been arriving with fewer big wages and ageing players, and I think Ajayi, OShea, Edwards, Harper and Field would have benefitted from another year. Imagine we’d have given Palmer or Griffiths a go too.

Would this be the same Nick Mashitter who wtote this ten days ago?

"Bologna want Filip Krovinovic. Another blow to #wba's hopes of bringing the midfielder back - which are fading. Deal still not impossible but budget constraints make it tricky. Link to follow."

Although this time he could be right, since he's only quoting Slav, who said in an interview on Saturday that he expected the deal for Krov to be done by the end of the weekend.

Steve Madeley reckons only 1 striker will come in.

Grant(?), Robinson, Grady, Periera, HRK, Edwards, Grosiki, Phillips...enough comp for 3 places, he says.

I have always thought that we only need 1 more striker, even if we lose Austin and Zohore.

We are only ever likely to play 1 central striker, if we got 2 in we would almost certainly have one not in the matchday squad - what's the point in that.

Would rather we look for another player capable of playing right wing back, especially if we are going to persist with the 3 central defenders policy

I wonder whether Robinson's success has meant a change of strategy in the centre-forward area.

If we are shipping out both Zahore & Austin, you'd like to think that we'd be replacing them both, but perhaps Philips is seen as another possibility, and with one up front being Slav's preference, this would mean Robinson, HRK, Philips & AN Other as the options. Not enough firepower across the season IMO, but time will tell.
