You've glossed over a fair few details. Prof. Ferrari has resigned from the ERC after the ERC itself blocked his top-down research programme with the ERC Scientific Council citing that there exists no mechanisms to bypass national scientific and political health institutions and there being no mandate for interfering with the business of member states, said mandate is granted via a treaty change which will a) not pass and b) this is the worst time for a new EU treaty. The ERC utilises bottom-up research programmes so Prof. Ferrari's plans are quite contradictory with existing ERC legislation and convention.

I'm personally not convinced that the level of centralisation of power, with in effect the EU replacing all member states health systems, is a good idea.

Tbf that’s a lot of words to get on the side of a bus for CIM to read.

Flipping sovereign states making their own decisions! That can’t possibly happen Farage and Anne Widdecombe say so!

I also want to add, the ERC statement says that Prof. Ferrari didn't resign but was unanimously voted out by the members of the ERC Scientific Council who lost confidence in him being able to conduct his role with Prof. Ferrari trying to bypass the ERC and go direct to the Commission to instigate his top-down research programme being the straw that broke the camels back.

The significant thing for the EU is sorting out a post pandemic deal which they are not at the moment - important for us even out of EU as still a big trading partner and we don't want them in recession

Something will no doubt happen last minute as usual in politics and transfer windows (fingers crossed)

The Eurobonds issue shows, again, how stupid it is for the Eurozone to have control over currency without controlling fiscal policy.

Covid19 will hasten the direction of travel towards fiscal union. The Germans won't bail out the Italians again without it.

Thank God we're leaving.

The Germans aren't the issues here in that regard, it's the Dutch.
