West Brom have begun the search for another head of academy coaching after David Kerslake left little more than a week into his new role.
The former Tottenham and QPR defender, recruited as Ryan Maye’s successor earlier this month, is joining Lincoln City as Michael Appleton’s number two.

Kerslake’s arrival at The Hawthorns had appeared to finally complete a rebuild within the academy, after several long-serving members of staff moved on over the summer.

Without knowing the inner details that seems a pretty cynical move by both.  Did Appleton sound Kerslake out whilst at Albion or do they have a common history together?

Either way, i'm not sure we'll be rushing to give Appleton another opportunity.  There's one thing ditching us after two weeks, it's another to actively headhunt our newly-appointed academy coach.

Still want Appleton back?

That's a shitty move by Appleton, as above, that may have burnt that bridge for good.

It is pretty underhand by both. Do you think, though, that Appleton is bothered about burning his bridges with the Baggies? And in 10 years time when there will probably be a whole new gang at the top, do you think they will care?

Well that's a blow. This shake up is not proving easy. What a slimy move.

Appleton has zero relationship with our management now, out of order this move IMO

Dowling comes across as someone you don’t want to piss off IMO. But wasn’t Appy relationship stronger with Jenkins?

Manc any idea what Stevens thinks about this?

If people get offered more money they will leave positions like this. We’d all do it and Kerslake isn’t likely to be particularly wealthy, he hardly played in an era of the super rich. Really can’t see the fuss, we are not talking about the first team here. Presumably others were interviewed, go and get the next best.

He is assistant at Lincoln, not sure how well paid that might be.    Any road,  I think the ire here is directed at Appleton.
