Watched the new Jurassic park - shyte, boring and sent me to sleep
New South Park - quality
28 Years Later - loved it, reasonably believable view of how things would be if the outbreak like that happened. Second half of the movie lacked a bit, but I still enjoyed it.

Yup, on a par with the 3rd one as worst Jurassic Park for me.

The backlog files: Lord Of The Rings - The Rings Of Power season 2. 8/10
Not gone too deep into the backlog for this. Yes the pacing can be slow but the set pieces and foreshadowing is superb especially for dyed in the wool Ringers (note I dont say Tolkiendil, because this show is not remotely faithful to his writings outside the Jackson trilogies).
The scene with Durin III and the Balrog particularly stands out. While the personification of Sauron is very well done imo.

As a massive Tolkien geek it’s been a slog as I can’t turn my brain off from the frankly ludicrous deviations from his actual writings, many times for no apparent reason. However Season 2 is better than the first season, and although I hate the implied Galadriel and Sauron possible romance, you are dead right that the portrayal of Sauron is actually pretty good. I understand the need to compress timelines for TV especially when you have main characters who live for thousands of years mingling with others who barely make 70, so I can deal with that . However no matter what they reveal I will never accept the Stranger being Gandalf and not a Blue Wizard… rant over lol ?

28 years later, decent enough. Weird ending though.

Alien Earth - if the first two episodes are anything to go off, the series is hopefully going to be immense! Episodes available now on Disney Plus or alternative sources.

I found them overlong and a bit silly to be honest, could've been cut to one episode what we've seen so far. Makes little sense that it's set 2 years before the Nostromo mission. The Nostromo's mission was only ten months long, which means people on Earth already knew about the Xenomorph and really shouldn't have been surprised. Also, how is it all of a sudden perfectly fine to zap it with electricity to incapacitate it?? Nobody ever tried that in any of the other movies, so it just feels daft.

I'd have to do a full rewatch of the movies before tackling this. So little time haha.

Alien Universe addict here.
So in fact humans did know about the xenomorphs, that's even hinted at in Alien, hence the special orders to land and get a specimen to bring back (why Ash ignored quarantine etc). Alien.Earth actually helps explain why that's the case.
In the extended universe electricity has been used to stun them a lot, but it never lasts long, as they found out.
I really enjoyed the two episodes so far, glaf to see a proper killing machine alien rather than cannon fodder, and it's a brutal, messy killer this time which is always welcome.

Finished Ballard, the sort of series that Mrs OF really doesn't like.
She got so involved in the storyline that she has now bought all six books on audible
My life will therefore be full of long periods of silence. I've splashed out on a Bose headset for her to encourage her listening.
