True. Lack of football league managerial experience seems risky though, given recent experience. Our lot also seem to need a disciplinarian to get a tune out of them (thankfully rules out Bruce, Mowbray, and Pardew) - not sure who that leaves.

Would be typical of our luck for Nestor to have lined Carrick up, only for Amorim's unscheduled outburst seeing him head up the M6 instead, leaving us up slack alley.

Sounds like our man. Apparently a fan of Sean Flyn, so there would be plenty of pressups with our shooting.

Happens to most managers and team eventually.

Balance that off against the fact he kept Mainz up when they were finished then got them into Europe. Then they sell all his best players.

No manager we will get will never have been sacked.

Henriksen/Sean Flynn dream team. I'm in.

"In January 2009, Flynn was appointed manager of Cornwall-based Jolly Combination League side Mullion FC."

Seems he's relocated to Cornwall - can Nestor afford sufficient cream teas to lure him back?

I'd actually be all over him as the No.2 enforcer to this Danish guy I've only just heard about.

To change we have to change things.
We've changed the owners, manager and players but the lazy attitude continues.
The rotten core is unfortunately still in place.
Nestor, Pearce his team and people like Miles should be the first to be dumped. Followed by all our backroom staff. Sadly this includes Mozza, Abella, Brunt, Myhill the whole lot of them. If any off them were really really motivated they wouldn't be here now. By staying they've shown they're not motivated and only here for the money.
We need an owner who is here every day keeping everyone motivated.
Or somebody who's in control and sorts stuff out not just talk talk.
Until we have people in charge who really care we will continue on the treadmill and get nowhere. Long term we need more then a manager

Can you get booked for doing pressups in the technical area?

Makes you wonder if the players think similarly.

The whatsapp groups I am in were all saying the same. You've nailed it. If you don't believe in yourself you stay the same or get worse. As a group, if it doesn't believe it's fucked. Mason may be an excellent football coach but his ability to get the group to believe has been laid bare. How Mowbray was supposed to have the energy do it after his long near death recovery is beyond me. What did Patel and Nestor see in them - it beggars belief.

Look at all the clubs that have done well in recent years. Leeds - Team full of pace, aggression, running, skill, tricks and goals. Sunderland - Youth, pace, energy, arrogance in their play. Burnley - Pace, energy, ball carriers, dribblers, loads of shots and running.

We lack that drive and pace and energy and it has definitely been mirrored in the appointment of Mason.

We need to go with a coach that wants high octane, direct, aggressive football and then recruit our new attacking players accordingly.

Think you've hit the nail on the head there. Under Slav we had swagger and verve and the opposition were scared of us (yes we had Pereira and struggled without him), heck they'd even double up on Grady in those days. As such we had space elsewhere.

it's similar to what Coventry were doing, opponents were aware of their goal threat and backed off too much (although maybe tiredness is creeping in for them or just the usual / expected slight downturn is kicking in).

Under CC opponents knew they were not going to score loads against us and had to really work for openings, or to make us make our own mistakes, which knackered them out a lot giving us a chance to snatch a draw.

However in both of those times we were always punished by our own mistakes, and it was rare for us to punish the opponents mistakes in the same manner. So it's definitely been a thing for a while.

Even under Val, until he was found out (yes I admit we had a good spell!), all of our mistakes seemed to lead to the opponent scoring.

I guess that kind of switching off thing builds up and up, and that's where we are now, we've switched off and are struggling to get back on.

We've lacked a proper on field general for an absolute age though, and I think most of us on here have said it. I think we thought we were getting one with Mowatt, but he's not exactly a McInnes et al...
