I just want to see that Reggie Blinker has learnt some harsh lessons. I’d actually not be devastated by a narrow defeat and a much improved performance/system change.

That’s not the bare minimum. 
Bare minimum is that plus a side that seems to know what they are doing. 
We’ve had two games with defenders crashing into each other like skittles and the first half v Middlesbrough wasn’t much better either.
In the current circumstances a draw of any kind would be something to build on.
