Mepham - 5 - Weak in the challenge and struggled on the ball.
Phillips - 6 - Couple of good clearances, some poor passing.
Taylor - 5 - Poor

MJ - 6 - Struggled at RWB tactically. Did fine defending 1v1 when needed and never stopped trying though, will come out with some credit from Ramsay for that I would think. Better when moved to inside left. But had already tired by then.
Bielik - 6 - Did a job in there and was a vocal leader, better at CB.
Styles - 7 - Grafted and played forwards, one Ramsay will really like.
SIJ - 7 - Best game for us. Amazingly in his preferred position. Promise.

Price - 8 - Grafted like a mad man, scored a great goal and ran the show when he moved deeper.
Heggebo - 6 - Couple of bits a good link up play, astonishing work rate, poor finish.
Grant - 7 - Superhuman shift, running wise. But and miss in possession. Want to see him deeper at RWB or at CM.

Subs:

Jed - 8 - Grafted, but in a couple of good crosses and scored a great goal.
Maja - 6 - Better, some cute link up and more graft.
Campbell - 6 - Needs to start at RCB.
Dike - Not on long enough.

Ramsay - 7 - Extra mark for the huge amount of work he must have done in a short space of time to change the team and  proper game management. Good feeling.

Mostly agree, but think a few changes for me:

Griffiths - 6

Mepham - 5
Phillips - 5
Taylor - 3 - after Swansea and last night, he should be sent back to Saints - he’s shot, and won’t be cheap.

MJ - 5 first half, 7 second
Styles - 8.5 MOTM - he was fantastic… energy, passes, tackles, recoveries… such a shame we don’t have another LB
Bielik - 5 - legs just not there to play in a 2
SIJ - 7.5 - best game for us, a real threat.

Price - 7.5 - lovely goal and great to see confidence return
Heggebø - 6 - a return to October. Grafting, missing best chances- we need more from him
Grant - 6.5 - energy but same as Heggs - not showing enough in attack.

Boro were very clinical, and particularly their 2nd goal should not go in - but it was really promising to hear Ramsay isolate the issues leading to us conceding so many worldies instead of just bemoaning bad luck like Mason.  I was also encouraged by the fact we saw a plan both with controlled defensive play in the first 30 and a controlled kamikaze attacking spell too.

For a manager who has had 3 sessions, it’s a solid start, and against pretty much any side in the division, we don’t lose that game. Next 3 are fucking massive.

Re your last paragraph, SW. We are losing those games though. Last minute goals aots. Personally I think disciplined defending will iron out much of this. Pity we are in a 2 games a week spell as an international break would've helped ER get his ideas over quicker. Totally agree on Taylor, legs have gone, we need to use make use of SIJ or Styles as natural left footers and somehow find a centre back assembly that works. Diakite might be the answer with 2 others just behind him. I genuinely don't believe we are proper relegation fodder despite recent evidence pointing otherwise, with organisation this side should be midtable. With finances tight and the end of window approaching, ER needs to be spending all his time on defensive drills to stop conceding these goals. They are nearly all just basic errors. Not pretty football, I know, stop the rot first.

Mostly agree with you, although a point on the LB position. SIJ had his clear best game for us in his natural position of LWB. If this is Ramsay's preferred system, I see no reason SIJ can't continue there, freeing up Styles for that midfield dynamo role.

We have to become harder to beat, and Ramsay was absolutely right in his assessment of it being a matter of game discipline and concentration. We've dropped 10 points in the final minutes of games this season, with those on the board we'd be in the playoff mix. Doing it once or twice a season is inevitable, for us to be doing it with the regularity we are is coaching! We have to find a way to control games better - we showed for 35 mins against Boro we can nullify and play our way into games against the best sides in the league, and ER has to find some a way of dragging this into a full 90.

I agree with you TJ that this side should not be a relegation contender, but lack of clear instruction and lack of ownership on the pitch is costing us. Boro's 3 goals all came from players not taking individual responsibility or making poor decisions.... same as the Leicester and Swansea goals. Thankfully, it is easier to instill that discipline and organisation than it is to instill quality... I just wish we'd dispensed with Mason sooner to take advantage of some of the gaps between games!

Agree with you, but I think until we have an RWB option we'll may well have to put SIJ there.

I think Grant, Wallace and Molumby could all play RWB with the right instructions

Yeah agree with you there. Wallace I think is best candidate for RWB, given Grant's somewhat inexplicable aversion to playing on the right side.

Ideally I'd like to see us get a RWB in on loan, especially with Collyer departing.
