Culture/Mentality

I think we have a serious lack of arrogance. We never approach anything with confidence and arrogance.

Look at all the clubs that have done well in recent years. Leeds - Team full of pace, aggression, running, skill, tricks and goals. Sunderland - Youth, pace, energy, arrogance in their play. Burnley - Pace, energy, ball carriers, dribblers, loads of shots and running.

We lack that drive and pace and energy and it has definitely been mirrored in the appointment of Mason.

We need to go with a coach that wants high octane, direct, aggressive football and then recruit our new attacking players accordingly.

Yep. We don’t scare anyone. We are too slow and pedestrian, we rarely harry the opposition. We lack tenacity, despite Molumby, but, when he’s on the rest seem to think that’s his job.
Going forward we lack pace, both on the break and in the press.
These are things that can we coached on the training ground and should come easily to the youth.

Is it mentality or is it basically a lack of attacking quality/ pace?

We don’t scare teams with our attacking options anymore - we last did under Bilic pre Christmas?

But of both I think , Manc.

Last night, at times we went flying into challenges, pressed in 2/3s, were aggressive. Our CBs, Mepham especially carried the ball out of defence to allow us to get overloads. Our fullbacks took up good, hurtful positions off the ball ahead of the opponents press. Far too often we are set up Square and behind of the play and nobody shows the confidence to commit the opposition and we take the safe, high percentage option.

But yes, we do lack some pace and power still.

Read back through the match thread and pretty much all of us were saying “we all know what’s going to happen” and lol and behold, it happened.

Makes you wonder if the players think similarly.

If we're trying to change mentalities and create an environment for success that everybody buys into then I'm going all in for Bo Henriksen to be the man we need.

Something tells me he's more likely to Choose Kiddy rather than us though .....

I didn't realise Bo Henriksen had been sacked.

If they haven't been on the phone already, something is off. Especially his history living around the midlands.

In time.

"Henriksen was sacked on 3 December 2025, after winning just 1 out of 12 games in the Bundesliga while losing 8 matches."

Sounds like our man. Apparently a fan of Sean Flyn, so there would be plenty of pressups with our shooting.

Happens to most managers and team eventually.

Balance that off against the fact he kept Mainz up when they were finished then got them into Europe. Then they sell all his best players.

No manager we will get will never have been sacked.
